I don’t think I would have continued breastfeeding as the pain was so severe. These relieved the pain instantly and I used them for a week or two until my nipples got used to the sucking motion. I would recommend to all new mums.

Cleaning them was a bit annoying as it was another item to sterilised but no bigger hassle then doing bottles.

I met with the lactation consultant and she allowed me to use these and it really saved my nipples which were in bad shape at the time. You should consult a doctor or nurse before messing with the feeds too much but these were a godsend for me.

They were a life saver when my nipples were cracked and bleeding. They fitted right and baby was able to match on perfectly and also helped lower the pain from breast feeding. I’d recommend mums to try these if need be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With a tough start to our breastfeeding journey, due to babies severe tongue tie and lazy latch I needed shields to help me recover and these were fab! Thin enough to not feel super different but easy to attatch and clean! Travel case was perfect for when we were out the house.

They are tricky to put on and a lactation consultant had to show me how to use it properly but they've been a lifesaver both times.

I tried a couple of brands before trying the medela and once I did my son started feeding a whole lot better! I think it’s because it’s quite thin compared to the others so his latch was better! These are a game changer, I was able to continue breastfeeding until 5 months which I wouldn’t have been able to do without these shields!

I wasn't able to breastfeed her at the beginning due to flat nipples and the nurse suggested we try these out to imitate the nipple shape. Sure enough, we were able to get a good latch and I was able to breastfeed. They're a little bit fiddly, but you get the hang of them pretty quick. Super easy to clean and small enough to throw into your nappy bag.

Bub was able to latch easily and feed well. We used them for 4 weeks and then tried feeding without - bub was great at latching without them. It helped Bub know how to latch properly and now she doesn’t hurt me - highly recommended to anyone who has sore nipples

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the first 3 days of Baby P life we could barley get him to latch on as i had server inverted nipples. After many different breastfeeding positions and the midwives and lactation consultant pulling and poking my boobs ever which way trying to get Baby P to latch on, we finally sent my mum down to the chemist to buy these nipple shields on advice from the lactation consultant. Within hours of using these Baby P was feeding from the breast finally!! If it was not for this product my baby would of been full time bottle fed. After using this for a few month i ended up not needing them at all once P learnt to feed of the nipple naturally.

My son has trouble latching to one nipple as it was flat, these helped with that and also made it easier for him as s prem baby to get milk out easier. He was getting tired before using these. I found them thin and not at all intrusive. I would definitely use these for any future babies

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lifesaver for cracked nipples [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a first time mum I was as new to breastfeeding as my baby was, so as I was thrown into the frying pan, so to speak, my nipples became very sore and breastfeeding became more and more painful to the point that I thought about switching to bottles. When the Midwife visited and I pointed out that my nipple was almost cut in half from their poor latch/my flat nipples she suggested the Medela shield. I used it for about a week so that my nipple had a chance to heal. While a bit fiddly at night, these definitely helped a lot. Suction on them was Hit Or Miss and sometimes fell off a lot but they usually stay at on once feeding. I usually wash them with soap and hot water and didn't need to sanitize them as my child was full term, and the storage case helped find them easily at night.

I like them for 2 reasons: I have too much of milk flow which made my little one choke if I put her straight to my nippies. But with the shield, there is a consistent flow of milk and the choking problem is sorted. Secondly, my baby started biting and hurting my nipples as she was teething. This shield saved me. As she is a breastfed baby and has never had a bottle till date, I was skeptical if she would like the plastic shield on my nippies. But Medela shield has been great, never had a problem. The only downside is that if you dont stick it well, happens to fall off quickly.

Towards the end of my hospital stay hubby bought these in and they made a huge difference. As bubs mouth was so small she found it hard to get the right attatchment. These changed that and assisted me in ensuring she was getting as much as she needed. I was a little worried about transition to my teet but that happened naturally when she was ready. I treated thes like a bottle and washed and sterilised in some hot water, not microwave!

The shields come in a variety of sizes and the attachment instructions are straight forward. I got the larger size and the fit well, I didn’t experience any pain. They are durable, easy to clean and come in a sturdy container. They are $25 a pop but worth it if you are struggling and need relief.

I was a bit confused what size to buy so just went with medium as it seems the most popular. The case is great for protecting them. Easy to clean. Great to use if you have cracked nipples but wouldn’t use them all the time as they knock off easily

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was told to purchase these after my first home visit from my midwife after my son was born, he was struggling to latch and if he did he couldn’t stay on, we got them that night and they absolutely saved my breast feeding journey! This product is by far my favourite baby product, without them I would not have been able to breast feed, my son latched so so easy and was full after every single feed, they are easy to sterilise and the little container they come in makes it easy to take them with you, love them!

My bub has trouble latching due to medical reasons, and these nipple shields helped us get going. If you had the opportunity, I would definitely say it is worth trying to wean your child off them, as I found it near impossible once he had gotten older and was able to properly latch. Although the nipple shields make it a little more difficult to breastfeed in public as it requires a bit more fiddling; I wouldn't have been able to do it without them.

My son had s tounge and lip tie aswell as a high pallet which mad it very difficult to feed. Without the nipple sheild he wouldn't of been able to establish his latch. It also was great it letting my nipples heal and prevented further damage. Only stoped using them as he decided he didn't want them anymore

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were the best in the early days of breastfeeding when our son couldn't latch properly - he was so tiny! A midwife suggested this as a solution for me whilst in hospital. Easy to clean and also put on, plus they have the convenient yellow case too so you don't lose them - clear plastic is very easy to misplace! I only used these for the first 5-6 weeks but they were a great investment. We bought a few to have in rotation especially when you're feeding super frequently! Hot tip -'make sure you get the right size; a midwife can help you :)

Don't open them and keep the receipt so you can swap them for something else if you don't use them. I didn't start using them until day 5 and it took 6 weeks to heal the damage that occurred in the first 24hrs. I didn't use them every feed, just a couple of times a day to get through the worst of it.

One of the midwives in the special care nursery recommended the medela nipple shield and it has helped us so much. I find that my daughter now can control the speed and amount of milk that she consumes and is no longer gagging at every feed. I also have an overactive let down so it helps her with that as well! It is the best $30 ever spent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The reason why I breastfeed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I honestly think without those shields my daughter would have been bottlefed.They helped me in many different ways,at the start because my nipples were really sore and they helped easing the pain.Afterwards they helped me as my daughter only wanted -still does- to eat with them.The only anoying thing is that yoi need to wash them and sterilize them after every use,but i love them.My baby girl wants only the medela ones,in particular size large (as they come also in small and medium size).A bit pricey but totally worth it,especially if you think about the amount of money you would spend for formula.

They are so thin and soft that my baby can still get nice and close when feeding. They have helped her to latch properly and she is a very well fed, contented baby. I would recommend these to anyone, they provide relief for sore nipples too!

My nipples became extremely sore and I saw a lactation consultant who advised I discontinue using the nipple shields as it may be causing friction. I lasted 3 days without it and cried through every feed. I started using the nipple shield again and haven't looked back. Still at 10 months old I'm using this product. I have 3 of them so I always have a clean or spare one. I think at the time I thought it was expensive but for the relief it bought I would have paid 4 times that amount!
