When absorbed into the skin, Purelan™ lanolin cream mimics the skin's natural ability to store moisture and can hold more than twice its weight in water - naturally helping skin's rehydration.

As well as soothing dry nipples or soreness during breastfeeding, Purelan™ can be used to moisturise a variety of dry skin areas, such as chapped lips, dry hands and cuticles, elbows and cracked heels.

Purelan™ is available in 37 g and a handy 7 g size - ready for you to use whenever you need it through the day.

What makes Purelan™ hypoallergenic?

Purelan™ formulation has been developed to minimize its allergenic potential. Carefully controlling the levels of FLA (free lanolin alcohols) in lanolin can reduce skin reactions even among those who are already sensitive to lanolin. Research shows that reducing the FLA content to less than 3%, particularly when detergent residues have been removed from the product, reduces the incidence of positive patch-test reactions among lanolin-sensitive skin patients. With an alcohol fraction of less than 3% in Purelan™, the allergenic potential to lanolin alcohols, which is observed rarely, is reduced to an absolute minimum as per EP (European Pharmacopeia).

Purelan™ does not contain other additives that might cause a reaction, such as preservatives and fragrances.

Additionally, Purelan™ is dermatologically tested. However, anyone with a known lanolin allergy should avoid using lanolin products, including Purelan™.

When should I apply nipple cream?

Use Purelan™ at every feed to relieve soreness, moisturise, and protect your nipples and skin. There is no need to remove the lanolin cream before feeding your baby.

How do you apply the lanolin cream to your nipples?

With clean hands, apply a pea-sized amount of Purelan™ onto your nipple area - the smooth, rich texture of Purelan™ makes it easy to apply. Purelan™ creates a protective layer on the surface of your skin and rehydrates skin from within - relieving soreness while skin heals naturally. There is no need to remove the cream again before feeding.

The cream is very thick and is pretty hard to squeeze out of the tube, just try to warm the product before using then it'll Be easier to squeeze out. It does works wonders and help soothe sore nipples. And it does not need to be washed off before breastfeeding.

It worked better than any other gadgets or gizmos I tried and was cheaper too! I only really needed the small tube. By the time I went out and bought the bigger amount, my nipples were fine and have been since! So my advice is get the small tube and see how you go so you aren't wasting it. FYI - it's oil so will leave residue on your clothes and stain unless you use a specific technique to remove oil from clothes. I don't think any of us are wearing our fancy bras while breastfeeding anyway!

The consistency is quite thick and hard to spread around. It also had a yellow colour and it had a slight smell to it compared to my other lanolin cream. It took me quite awhile to spread the product. I would recommend other brand unless you like the cream slightly thicker.

I was just using what I had around the house previously for my poor nipples but tried and loved this!! It definitely helps recovery with cracked nipples and helped out breastfeeding journey in the long run. My only issue was I’m a very sensory person and the texture was somewhat too much. Regardless I would still use in the future!

Its easy to apply and feels nice on the nipples. This brand does have a smell to it but it's a good second choice brand of nipple cream as I prefer a different one. Nevertheless, this lanolin cream helps heal damaged skin and treat sore nipples for breastfeeding mothers

It sooths sore nipples quickly ready for the next feed and is safe for babies to feed immediately after application. The smaller size of Medela Purelan Lanolin Cream is convenient to throw in your bag for daily use or travel. A little goes a long way and relief lasts for a while so you don't go through it quickly. It's thicker than Lansinoh Lanolin Cream, closer to the consistancy of paw paw cream, and quite sticky, requiring hands to be washed quite soon after applying. It does the job though not the best on the market but a close second.

I like how you don't have to wipe the cream of before breastfeeding as its safe and it’s definitely one less thing to think about. i recommend buying the tiny tube as you don’t need a-lot and i didn't event finish the tiny tube before i stopped needing it. I only used the cream during my 3 day stay in hospital and after that never used it again but it defines helped heal my nipples.

I found this cream helped soothe them, and I liked how they have a small size so you can see if it works or not before spending more money on the large size. It is a small tube (see pic with hand for size reference). Its quite thick, hard to rub in but I guess it's more to coat and not rub in? I hadn't used mine for awhile and actually had a lot of trouble squeezing it out even though it was closed properly.

The cream is thick and nourishing on cracked and dry nipples. It is made with Lanolin which is very rich and nourishing. You just have to make sure it does not come into contact with your clothes as it can leave oily or fatty marks on your clothing.

This made my nipples incredibly sore so I purchased this nipple balm along with the Medela Nipple Shield. The Lansinoh brand seems to be more popular but all my other breastfeeding products were Medela and I was happy with them so I opted for this one. I applied this balm after each pumping session and feed, and never experienced cracked nipples. It is very thick and you do not need to use much at all. I only purchased one small tube and it still hasn’t run out after many months. Now that I have established breastfeeding and no longer need to use this, I use it on my lips as a lip balm.

I believe this helped me prepare for my breastfeeding journey as my nipples did not crack or bleed when my baby latched on. It is also preservative free and natural so i know it is safe on my baby. Only downside is that i find it too greasy.

I found that using the breastmilk to sooth the nipples as recommended by our midwives wasn't enough and this cream provided great relief. I used it straight after a feed and wiped off any remaining cream before feeding again and bub didn't seem to notice any taste.
