General Information

Mattifying moisturiser suitable for oily, acne-prone skin types

Effaclar Mat Anti-Shine Moisturiser 40mL is an oil-regulating matte cream moisturiser, designed to visibly reduce the size of pores and skin oiliness, while providing a matte finish. This daily mattifying moisturiser is for oily skin, with a formula that targets the production of excess oil to help mattify the complexion and refine the appearance of pores. Formulated with sebum-regulating ingredients and gentle exfoliants to help visibly tighten enlarged pores while refining skin texture, it has a smooth and nourishing texture with a proven, long-lasting mattifying effect. Effaclar Matte Anti-Shine Moisturiser is ideal for sensitive, oily and acne-prone skin, susceptible to shine and clogged pores. Directions

Apply Effaclar Mat Anti-Shine Moisturiser every morning and/or evening to the whole face after cleansing with Effaclar Foaming Gel Cleanser.

I have oily skin and never bothered with moisturizing my face and now I use Effaclar twice a day. Its true mat finish even works over the serums I use. My one complaint is that it comes in such a small bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have dry skin but this moisturiser is perfect for me during the warmer months because it is lightweight on skin and dries down to matte finish. This moisturiser works beautifully as a makeup base as it minimise the appearance of my large pores and it doesn't interfere with my foundation. Although it is an oil free moisturiser it still kept my face hydrated throughout the day. The plastic tub packaging is very handy for travelling.

It’s super light to wear with the most gorgeous silky, fluid texture, it feels divine to apply, it spreads easily and sinks straight into my skin making my skin feel super soft and hydrated and with a gorgeous matte finish. This leaves my skin fresh all day, it prevents oiliness and shine and makes a beautiful base for makeup, making it also last longer. I love how the product makes my skin feel so fresh all day, I can’t honestly be without it as it gives my skin such a flawless finish. It won’t irritate sensitive skin, is great value and it really WORKS. LOVE it and highly recommend it, simply gorgeous.

It works well under makeup, leaving you with a subtle natural glow. I wouldn’t say that this was a super mattifyimf product, however for being a moisturiser, it certainly does a lovely job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On my day-to-day routine I typically bounce between the Toleraine Ultra Moisturiser and Ultra Light also by La Roche Posay. These moisturisers are my holy grail (HG), but upon trying the Effaclar Mat Moisturiser I feel it is just as nice to wear on the skin, if not even better suited especially in the Summer time when you want something light that doesn't disrupt other skin/make up layers you will most likely put on top. It has a nice lightweight texture for my combination oily (and acne prone) skin and doesn't break me out. Moving forward, I think I would repurchase the Effaclar Mat moisturiser to use as a daytime moisturiser in the summer and use Toleraine Ultra during the Winter.

Leaves skin feeling soft and definitely helps combat oiliness throughout the day (used in conjunction with Effaclar Duo +). I am yet to try this as a makeup base primer, however I have high hopes! I would recommend this to anyone with oily skin concerns and I would definitely repurchase.

It helped to keep me matte during these hot summer days. I didn’t have to touch up as often as I normally do. Not sure it will be enough in winter but I’ll be purchasing to use next summer. Good basic moisturiser that didn’t irritate my skin or break me out.

I work in a air conditioned office and that makes my skin very oily so this product works wonders for my skin and keeping it matt all day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THis is definitely one of the best mattifying moisturisers I’ve used - it does what it says it will! I have really oily skin especially during these summer months, so I’ve been using this moisturiser after cleansing my skin in the mornings and it is the perfect makeup base! When I use this i don’t worry about primer because it helps keep my makeup at bay and reduces the amount of shine in my t zone. I have been using other skincare at night that are more nourishing / beneficial to skin so it’s a great combo mixing between the two. The packaging is really simple but I love it because it’s practical for travelling and storage. The formula really lightweight and I haven’t hadn’t any issues with breakouts. Definitely recommend for those with oily skin!

Love the matte effect on my skin and how it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, My skin looks a lot less oiler after application and also further into the day. I did notice an improvement in my skin and less breakouts. Also great as a primer under my makeup 100% recommend and will repurchase once finished. Glad I have this product as part of my skincare routine.

The moisturiser is easily absorbed by the skin making it perfect to apply under makeup or at the beginning of the day for that fresh skin feel. After applying it feels like there is nothing gresasy sitting on top of my skin and I really like that about this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I absolutely loved this moisturiser.  It was perfect for my oily skin as it really helped balance out the oil and still kept my skin hydrated.  I also found that it decreased the size of my pores on my cheeks and nose quite significantly.  I would highly recommend this moisturiser for anyone with excess oily skin as it really did keep that shine at bay.

Upon application the product dissolved into skin leaving a very matte feeling. After continuous use I noticed my skin  started to look more clear and dewy. Would highly recommend for people afraid of moisturiser because of oily skin!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am a very big fan of the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat. I cannot recommend it enough. I used this as a moisturiser and primer under my make up. It worked wonders! Typically toward the end of a day I find I start to feel quite shiny - often feeling I need to blot my face. Using this product as a primer I found I didn't get this feeling and I loved it. The matte effect 100% works. It feels beautiful against your skin as well - just love it.  A little definitely goes a long way with this product! I made the mistake of squeezing out too much on a few occasions. A pea size will absolutely do a whole face.

Most moisturizes I use make my skin super oily, and when I wear make up on top it becomes oilier and becomes a oily mess, causing more acne. \n\nThis is a god send for someone who has oily skin and wears make up and hates the shiney look. For me this absorbs into my skin really quickly, its light weight. As soon as it absorbs, it doesnt make my face look oily. It effectifly moisturisers my face\n

My T Zone is usually an oil mess by midday at the latest, however, this moisturiser REALLY reduces the oiliness of my skin. There are a lot of products on the market that claim to help mattify skin, but this one really does. It is smooth, lightweight, great under makeup AND affordable - what more could you possibly want?!

The cream dries out (more like it absorbs) very quickly, feels very light and not so sticky. The and only downside is that the cream is way too small for everyday use, so what I do now is I would use a different moisturiser (other brands) in the morning and use only this product during night time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works great, but i prefer the old formula i remember using this product about 2 years ago and it was amazing, i had extreme oil in my tzone as well as PIE. Until about a year to half a year ago, i went to repurchase at a nearby pharmacy and realized the texture was different from the one i used before. Honestly, i kind of liked the old formula better the current one seem to have a more shiny finish it feels greasy in tropical countries, it’d be great if there would still be the old formula in sale 😭🫶🏻🫶🏻 but anyway it still works great🔥🔥 keep slaying all roche posay

The smell isn't overpowering but it is a little strange, I also found my skin would have some redness that didn't seem to reduce over the day. It's a reasonable price so perhaps worth giving it a go if you are looking for something that doesn't leave a shine however my skin felt a little tight which I guess for some people would be great I just felt like it wasn't moisturised enough\n

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised! I bought this product whilst on holidays in Vancouver and seeing Effaclar products more readily available than Australia. Whilst on hols, I noticed my pores were quite large and I wasn't 100% happy with my appearance. I tried it on a whim in conjunction with my The Ordinary skin products. I have since come home to Melbourne and after a week of using Effaclar Mat with my other products my pores are noticeably smaller and I'm just happy in general! I love the Effaclar range!

I am quite oily and have been recommended to use this product by multiple people so when I finally tried it, it did not disappoint. It leaves the face feeling lovely, soft and matte. The tube has a convenient flip top so you never lose the lid. It is a bit expensive especially for the size of the product but it does seem worth it as it is a good base to have under my make up.
