General Information

Mattifying moisturiser suitable for oily, acne-prone skin types

Effaclar Mat Anti-Shine Moisturiser 40mL is an oil-regulating matte cream moisturiser, designed to visibly reduce the size of pores and skin oiliness, while providing a matte finish. This daily mattifying moisturiser is for oily skin, with a formula that targets the production of excess oil to help mattify the complexion and refine the appearance of pores. Formulated with sebum-regulating ingredients and gentle exfoliants to help visibly tighten enlarged pores while refining skin texture, it has a smooth and nourishing texture with a proven, long-lasting mattifying effect. Effaclar Matte Anti-Shine Moisturiser is ideal for sensitive, oily and acne-prone skin, susceptible to shine and clogged pores. Directions

Apply Effaclar Mat Anti-Shine Moisturiser every morning and/or evening to the whole face after cleansing with Effaclar Foaming Gel Cleanser.

WARNINGS: External use. Avoid eye contour. If of contact with eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly.

It left my skin feeling matte, it blended well concealing my pores, and sat nicely underneath both foundation and tinted moisturiser. This product is perfect for summer, however I would lean towards a heavier product in the winter.

It creates a matte base on the skin, which is great for oily/combination skin types. I didn't need to use much product either, so it is also quite affordable. Perfect for everyday use and under makeup!

My skin tends to get quite oily throughout the day so I was unsure how well this would actually work for me but I am quite impressed. Under make up this lasted quite well and really helped keep my oiliness at bay. Would definitely try this gain!!

It is so lightweight, absorbs very quickly, and like every other La Roche Posay product, has the most refreshing scent and a little product goes such a long way! It gave such a nice soft matte effect to skin and was the perfect base for under makeup. My only complaints are that the dryer patches of my combination skin felt a little too dehydrated with continual use of this product (but this was quickly fixed with a richer night cream) and a lack of spf. Overall, still a great product that I will definitely repurchase.

I didn’t find that it gave a very matte finish, but that is not an issue for me. I found that it did clog my pores more than my Dermalogica moisturiser but I do have very acne prone skin. Would recommend to someone who wants a lovely, light moisturiser for normal skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic product for those with oily skin wanting a matte finish. Also great acting as a primer prior to applying makeup, as the skin is prepped and not 'slippery'. Along with a great aesthetic product, it also helped with breakouts below the first layer of skin and cleared up breakouts. Definitely will be purchasing again!

However, this moisturiser is great for days when I'm going makeup free, but still want my skin to not be a grease ball! It left my skin hydrated, yet matte, which is great for us oily skin gals. It works great in conjunction with the effaclar duo too! If this just didn't pill on my sometimes, I think this would be a holy grail summer moisturiser for me!

It's so versatile and perfect under makeup. Great for anyone with oily skin but might be a little drying for anyone with normal/dry skin.

I did like using it during the summer, but feel like I would need to change my moisturiser in the winter months. My skin still produced oil, but I felt it was less then normal. I would recommend you give it a try if you have oily skin, cause I know how hard it is to find a moisturiser that you like.

The Efaclar mat holds true  to its word and creates a mattified yet moisturised canvas that works well under makeup. There are a lot of products on the market that claim to help mattify skin, but this one really does. It is smooth, lightweight, great under makeup AND affordable - what more could you possibly want?!

I like to use it as a base below my foundation in the areas where I definitely get very shiny/oily throughout the day - so my T-zone, chin and sides of my forehead. Although it is holding up well in the intense heat of Aussie summer - not too sure about how it would do in winter and I can definitely tell I'll be needing a heavier product then.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product really does do wonders. I wanted to really concentrate this product where I have larger pores initially to see how it worked. Using it on my nose and next to the nose on the inner cheek, and it worked so well. It pretty much immediately filled in pores and left a smooth canvas with no shine! It helped to really minimise the look of my pores. It blended in really well and didn’t leave any colour or residue. Using it all over the face gives an excellent make up base as it just smooths everything. I used it after I used the effaclar duo and together they worked well, it didn’t cause any breakouts or reactions.  If you have oily skin with enlarged pores, I do highly recommend this product as a moisturiser and primer. It’s super affordable and does an amazing job.

It’s definitely helped keep the oily parts of my face to stay more matte, but I would say it did dry out the less oily parts of my face. I love the scent, it’s a very fresh scent.

It was great as a under base before I applied my makeup and felt like it protected my skin from my makeup sinking into my pores. As part of a daily routine with the face wash and duo it is the perfect finishing touch to your skin care routine especially for oily and sensitive skin!

It can be used on its own or as a primer under foundation to help achieve that flawless matte look we all love. The moisturiser is quick to absorb into the skin and leaves the skin feeling soft and well cared for. It does have a very gentle scent, which I quite like.\n\nIt is free from parabens.\n

It provides a great canvas for my foundation and really helps to keep my oily skin shine-free for the majority of the day, which is a great achievement in itself! In conjunction with the Effaclar face wash and Effaclar Duo, it's a really great skincare routine!

The formula is light weight & non-greasy which is great for everyday use. While I personally prefer the effaclar duo I would recommend this formula for those with oily skin as it would probably work better for those skin types. In saying that it is a product I reach for often (even with dry skin) and do enjoy how it works with my skin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I think I have used all the products available in the Effaclar range, and I enjoy using them all. This one however is my least favourite. Do not get me wrong. It is a great moisturiser with a mattifying effect for oily and combination skins. In my opinion it just lacks a wow factor. It hydrates the skin, yes, it will never clog your pores, on the contrary, it might help to clear them, but it just does not mattify enough for me. And on top of that, it might not work well with some of the make up primers and foundations. It might pile on and ball up, and I hate this feeling. If it is used on its own, it is perfect. I suppose it is designed to be a day cream, as at night we do not need a matte effect, so it should be improved.

I didn't think it made much of a difference but I found it too drying for me. For more oily skin types it is a great lightweight moisturiser.

The combination of this product and the effaclar duo, work well together when trying to minimise breakouts. I would recommend this moisturiser and plus its super affordable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product isn't for me. Over the summer, my skin has gotten a bit drier. It may work well for oily skin, but it just isn't for me so I can't comment on its effectiveness. The packaging is very convenient though with the pump tube which is my favourite kind of packaging.

Warning if you have oily skin within 2 hrs of washing your face, this product is not for you! I felt like this lotion made my face more oily after use. Do not waste your money. It also made me break out. I do not recommend this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I enjoyed how light weight and lightly fragranced this Moisturiser was, how ever I found even the smallest amount took ages to absorb/ massage into the skin and if I touched my face during the say the product would ball up and fall off, even if I had spent long amounts of time rubbing into the skin.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke out wherever I used this moisturiser On the completion of my last moisturizer I thought I'd give effaclar mat anti-acne moisturizer a go specifically for my forehead. Having had success with other La Roche Posay products on my dry/sensitive skin on my cheeks I wanted something different for my oily forehead. After using for two days my forehead had several angry pimples and the skin is sensitive and stinging. Prior to use, my forehead was not a breakout zone - my only complaint was oiliness. I will be returning this product asap.
