General Information

John Frieda Violet Crush Purple Toning Mask kisses brassiness goodbye in as little as one wash. The advanced, extra-strength formula cleanses while quickly neutralizing brassy tones for fresh and brighter hair. Crushed violet pigments absorb UV light and make colour-treated or highlighted blonde hair appear cooler and brighter in as little as one use.

Warnings

CAUTION: This product contains ingredients, which may cause skin irritation on certain individuals and a preliminary test according to accompanying directions should first be made. This product must not be used for dyeing the eyelashes or eyebrows; to do so may cause blindness. Do not apply to a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if rash or irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children. For external use on scalp hair only. Avoid contact with fabrics & household surfaces to prevent staining. If contact occurs, clean immediately.
TO PERFORM A PATCH TEST: 48 hours prior to use, clean a small area of skin behind the ear or on the inner surface of the forearm with soap and water or alcohol, apply a small quantity of the product to the area and allow to dry. After 24 hours, wash the area with soap and water. If the area has no irritation or inflammation, sensitivity to the product is unlikely.

Violet Crush Purple Toning Mask knocks out damage and brassy tones fast. For a cooler, more luminous, salon-fresh blonde.

Directions

After shampooing with Violet Crush Purple Shampoo, generously apply the Purple Toning Mask evenly through wet hair and comb through. Leave on 1-3 minutes, and not more than 5 minutes, rinse well. Wash hands immediately. Use weekly or as needed until desired toning results are achieved.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been box-dyeing the greys away into blonde highlights for years, and unfortunately no matter the brand of dye used, my blondes always turn brassy sooner or later. I was therefore excited to trial John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo. I was hesitant however -- I have natural curls which I embrace -- no straighteners allowed! -- so just what would happen? Would I still be curly? Would my latest dye turn brassy like all the others? Thankfully, the answers were Yes and No. My curl pattern was preserved -- enhanced even, compared with my previous products. And my blondes -- so far -- have stayed blonde. I do find I have to be careful with any rough skin on my hands, lest they turn lilac for about a day after washing my hair, but otherwise I am quite impressed. First of the all the packaging is sleek, drawing the eye to the product. Then upon first use, it is a vibrant colour that noticeably neutralised the yellow tones and gave my hair a soft frizz free feel. I will definitely purchase the product again.

The packaging is inviting and I like the tube style container as it's easier to use than flip top lids. I initially tried using two shampoos before I conditioned in my first use. I then found one shampoo was sufficient and was better for my hair followed by conditioner. I was pleasantly pleased that my hair toned well in combination with the conditioner. I was fortunate to find these products in the travel section of my supermarket and have since purchased them for my overnight bag as I genuinely liked the product and had not seen purple shampoo in a travel size. My review is in regards to the shampoo and conditioner used together as I find it hard to separate which part of the process gave the pleasing result.

The smell alone would make me want to buy it over and over again. I’m actually upset that I only have to use this once a week because it is so good that I want to use it everyday just for the delicious smell it has!! I leave the mask on my hair for 3 minutes after I’ve brushed it all through and then thoroughly wash it out and you can honestly see the difference in colour and how well it takes away that orange brassy tone. Doing that once a week is all you need to keep that gorgeous blonde colour without the brassy extra tones through it. If I could only buy one product to keep my hair nice, it would be this one. 10/10!!

I found both products to be wonderfully fragrant and very visually appealing in colour, and was surprised how effective they were at toning blonded hair. I will definitely consider them for my future purple shampoo needs and will recommend them to others.

I was skeptic of this product to begin with because I had been dedicated to my salon and the products they recommended for years but found there latest purple shampoo left my hair dry compared to previous brands. I assumed John freida would be the same! But I was VERY surprised after my first wash. I don’t think my hair has felt that soft for years. And that is no joke. I couldn’t believe how nice my hair smelt as well the next day! I actually really love both the shampoo and hair mask!

This product came at a perfect time as I had just run out of my last purple shampoo that was a different brand. As I had run out I was starting to notice a brassy tinge to my hair that I was thinking I’d need to go back to the salon to get fixed!! I was wrong. I began using John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Shampoo along with the purple toning mask and it is honestly as good as it looks walking out of a salon right after your hair has been dyed. I used the shampoo daily for 4 days and left in for 3 minutes each time and managed to get back to my desired blonde colour and now I’m alternating between a normal shampoo and the John Frieda shampoo. Whilst alternating shampoos the colour hasn’t changed or gone back to that brassy orange look that no one wants! I am loving this product and will keep trying it to see how long between washes I can go before the colour of my hair gets that orangey tone back. I would definitely recommend trying this product as I’ve had such great results in a short time!
