General Information

John Frieda Violet Crush Purple Toning Mask kisses brassiness goodbye in as little as one wash. The advanced, extra-strength formula cleanses while quickly neutralizing brassy tones for fresh and brighter hair. Crushed violet pigments absorb UV light and make colour-treated or highlighted blonde hair appear cooler and brighter in as little as one use.

Warnings

CAUTION: This product contains ingredients, which may cause skin irritation on certain individuals and a preliminary test according to accompanying directions should first be made. This product must not be used for dyeing the eyelashes or eyebrows; to do so may cause blindness. Do not apply to a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if rash or irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children. For external use on scalp hair only. Avoid contact with fabrics & household surfaces to prevent staining. If contact occurs, clean immediately.
TO PERFORM A PATCH TEST: 48 hours prior to use, clean a small area of skin behind the ear or on the inner surface of the forearm with soap and water or alcohol, apply a small quantity of the product to the area and allow to dry. After 24 hours, wash the area with soap and water. If the area has no irritation or inflammation, sensitivity to the product is unlikely.

Violet Crush Purple Toning Mask knocks out damage and brassy tones fast. For a cooler, more luminous, salon-fresh blonde.

Directions

After shampooing with Violet Crush Purple Shampoo, generously apply the Purple Toning Mask evenly through wet hair and comb through. Leave on 1-3 minutes, and not more than 5 minutes, rinse well. Wash hands immediately. Use weekly or as needed until desired toning results are achieved.

I have tried every toner out there with the exception of fanola and found this to work really well. I have become quite sceptical about the gimmicks and marketing hype out there but I am very impressed that this does what it claims to do.

Love the smell, best smelling shampoo! Wasn’t a fan of how it left my fingers especially around my nails slightly purple even after washing immediately. Overall a great product but is slightly expensive. This product was gifted to me for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

The product smells lovely, but I didn’t find it worked for removing brass tones from brown hair. It was also very hard to wash out and cling to the hair. I was gifted a bottle of John Frieda Purple Toning Mask to review. I found this product to be wonderfully fragrant with an appealing lavender colour. When used together with the John Frieda purple shampoo, I was surprised how effective the combination was at toning blonded hair, however given how pale the mask is and the recommended brief application time, I am uncertain whether this product alone would have been as effective. Nevertheless, I will definitely consider it for my future purple mask needs and will recommend it to others.

Was worried the purple may stay in my hair as other brands have but so far so good. Recommend but be sure to use the conditioner as well.

Marketing an item as a toning most, that has an advertised leave in time frame of 1-3 minutes, set the expectation of stronger toning qualities. Sadly, after weeks of use following the directions, my hair looked slightly less brassy but not visible to myself or to anyone else I asked. I expected there to be a strong conditioning aspect, but just like the shampoo, my hair was left fluffy and dull with no lasting effects. Despite not having toning qualities, this would need to be used for a conditioner or supplementary hair product (leave-in-conditioner or hair oil).

After using the John Frieda Shampoo for multiple washes, I can say that there was a difference in brassy tones; however I could say there was not a major difference. I liked that the shampoo initially gave a volumising effect however fell short in providing a glossy salon level effect and after 1 to 2 days fell flat and appeared greasy at my roots which cheap supermarket shampoos have acted better for me in the past.
