Directions

Before application, shake the pen. Then, start building by flicking the pen upwards to create hair-like strokes while filling in sparse areas. Let the product to dry. Last, use the clear gel to sculpt brows into desired shape and seal for up to 24 hour wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Amy M. from Natural looking brows that last [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I regularly use a brow gel as I have quite light and sparse eyebrows and I find brow pencils look too drawn on and are hard to colour match. I was keen to try Maybelline New York's Build-A-Brow to see how it compared and just how waterproof it actually was. I tried this product in the 'Blonde' colour which was perfect for my dark blonde brows and promised a fuller brow look in two easy steps. The main difference from the product I currently use was that this uses a pen for smaller strokes as opposed to a sponge. I did find that gave me greater control of where the strokes were going and I wasn't having to wipe bits off that had gone rogue. It was easy to use as per the directions on the box and gave a really natural look. Once you're happy with the look you simply use the sealing gel over the top and you're good to go. I definitely found it long lasting, with previous products I've found they either wiped off or started to fade throughout the day or would start to turn almost powdery. Build-A-Brow looked as good as when I'd applied it in the morning, whether it was after my workout or out to dinner after a full day at work. For $28 this is a total bargain and I'll definitely be buying it again.

Looks natural not too dark, i like the clear gel, not thick and gluggy at all, set really well and quick, frames face well. Flexible, looks shaped and precise,easy to use thin strokes.Applied lightly this blends well,. Like the 2 in one idea, saves searching in make up bag. Easy to apply it really is a set and forget process, i would recommend based on using this ,simple easy and will buy again

The felt tip pen allows for precise and controlled application. I loved how the product felt lightweight and glided on with ease. The product can be applied naturally with controlled light strokes and builds easily with more pressure and strokes. I also really loved how I could apply feathery strokes to the front of my brow for that fluffy natural full brow effect. The gel applicator allows to lock those brows in place and sweat proof perfect for my gym sessions. The only thing I didn't like was the brown colour I chose did apply reddish brown in some areas on my light skin however, this was managed by going over areas a few to times to eliminate this issue. I would definitely purchase this but would opt for a darker colour.

Not only does this product save me time but it also performs and holds up like a dream. It survives sweaty yard work and a sweaty gym workout without as much as a brow out of line. The super slim brush allows you to create hair like strokes whilst giving you the ability to build up your look if desired. Once sealed the brows aren’t going anywhere. Applications takes all of 2 minutes which is a game changer for a busy working mum of 2. I will never not recommend this to anyone and everyone! Will definitely be a staple in my daily look!

I like the fact that it is two products in one - one end has the brow pen and the other end has the brow gel. The brow pen has a small tip which is beneficial to mimic eyebrow hairs. This also enables me to achieve a fuller brow illusion whilst still remaining natural looking - not too over the top. The brow gel applicator removes any excess product. You can also add as much or as little as you like - depending on how laminated you want the look of your brows. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to sharpen up their brow game :)

At first glance the wand was a fine tip but as I used this product over the weeks, I found that the tip no longer provided the sharp, precise tip that I started off with. This was a little disappointing. However, the colour match was excellent. I can see this product being very effective for users with sparse brows that need filling in. Unfortunately, that is not me. The clear gel at the other end of the wand was highly effective at keeping my brows in place. I used this end more so than the coloured side and absolutely loved the way my brows stayed in place. I tested this end in the heat and rain and the product still held my brows in place. I was very impressed by this. Overall, while this product was not entirely for me, I can appreciate and encourage those with fair or sparse brows to try this product. I think you could have some wonderful results with this. Let me explain why. This product is very forgiving, which can be both a positive and a negative. It's quite a watery product - almost like painting with watercolour- which means you have to use a lot of product and press down hard with the brush to really fill in your brows. This was a negative for me, as the product is on the smaller side and I just don't see value for money. However, a beginner would probably love this aspect of the product, as there is room to play around and its light enough to hide imperfect application. This would also be a plus if you find yourself in a hurry and need a more forgiving product to simply provide a little more colour on the brows. Also, if travelling, this product could be a handy way to consolidate on makeup products as it's a colour and cleat gel in one. The clear gel was what saved this product in my opinion. It has good hold and texture, without being cakey or crusty. The problem, again, is the amount of clear gel you get isn't really value for money as it's only one end of the pen. I'd recommend this product to beginners, people in a hurry or people who are travelling and want to consolidate their beauty products. I found this eyebrow product average - good, but not great. It's not a product that I will personally be repurchasing.

At the start of the brow the pen gives a nice feathered brow look. However the rest of my brows need a bit more work to be fuller and fill in gaps, the pen unfortunately fell short. It was difficult to draw on the skin and gave a flat 2D appearance compared to my favourite Maybelline ultra slim brow pencil. The clear gel lift the brows and kept them in place but didn’t give the fuller brow laminated look I’m used to. Ideally this product would be great for someone with thicker brows who need a light touch up of sparse areas and to hold the brows in place.

The colour was a great match, not too warm or cool toned, and the applicators were a great size, not too big or too small. It also gave a nice ‘tinted brow’ appearance and wasn’t too harsh. It was also super easy to blend into the brows I did however find that the colour sided applicator didn’t seem to apply product consistently after a few uses. I’m wondering whether this was due to applying skincare first, and whether this built up on the applicator. The brow gel didn’t seem to keep any hairs in place, it just smoothed out and evened out the colour somewhat. Overall, I do love the idea of the product and the convenience of having both products in one convenient pen. It also did add colour and fill in gaps in brows, but it was just too inconsistent in application.

I also thought the colour selection was good but maybe ran slightly warm/reddish for the lighter brown colours. Even though I have super fine brows the gel did not do much but I liked that it never turned crunchy. I think this would be good for people who have naturally full brows and just want to fill in small gaps. I thought the concept of this brow product was super cool but I think it could have been executed slightly better.

It was a bit hard to get used to doing the strokes using the brow pen at the beginning but once I got used to it, it became easier. I was fortunate to receive the right shade for my brows so it really suited me well and added that natural look especially where my gaps were. I really like how fine/thin the tip of the brow pen, which made it easier to draw the strokes. My favourite is the clear sealing brow gel. Sometimes, i would just use the clear sealing brow gel on its own when I’m in a rush. It keeps my brow hair under control. I would probably buy this again just for the clear sealing brow gel.

However I would say it is not ideal if you want a natural look I found I needed to wear make up otherwise it was very obvious I was wearing brow make up. For myself personally I prefer a natural look so wouldn't purchase again. I think they could also do a broader ranger of shades. It is good for filling in spaces in your brows and can help to complete a make up look, especially with dark eye make up it really completes the look.

The colour pay off is good and it’s simple to use and relatively easy to control but it doesn’t last very long. Even after following instructions and letting it dry, the brow gel smudged lines and made it wet again, wasn’t the strongest holding gel either. Note I do have oily skin also so wouldn’t recommend as the product would like just slide off, I’d stick to using powder or pencil, something that’ll last longer.

Unfortunately it took too long to get any noticeable results. The product isn’t pigmented enough and required multiple applications to visibly show on my brows. I did achieve a nice result after putting the time and effort in, but it’s just not something I’d regularly reach for. I also found the gel spoolie to be too small. The gel consistency was fine but definitely nothing groundbreaking.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This brow product is nice and easy to use, and I have found it handy to throw in my gym bag for an all-in-one everyday brow product. For me, the product works best to deliver a more natural looking brow, and does have decent longevity in terms of performance. I wasn't super impressed with the individual components, I do think that there are better options out there at a similar price point, but the handiness of having both the pencil and gel in one product does have it's benefits. I probably wouldn't repurchase at full price, but if I could pick it up with a considerable discount I would consider it.

I am vary fair and the lightest shade still seemed a little dark for me but really was easy enough with the built in brush. had a pleasant smell and texture, and also stayed on pretty well for the day, had to ruse remover to take off. I would only recommend it it is on sale as full price seems a little much for what it is, but it was easy to use especially as i dont often do my eye brows

The colour was perfect for my almost black eyebrow hair. I found that the brush tip was fine and flexible which allowed me to create natural looking brush strokes that would look like real hair. The only downside to this brush tip is if you do prefer a bolder brow this product may not be for you and you may prefer a brow pencil or pomade. I love that there is a little brush with some gel. I prefer the smaller eyebrow spoolies as there is more control over the application. The gel is clear and works nicely. Again if you prefer bolder brows you may prefer a coloured gel. Overall the product is great and does what it says for natural looking eyebrows.

While it delivers on some fronts, there are drawbacks which prevent it from being a top-tier brow product. While the formula was easy to apply to begin with, the applicator dried out too quickly and was almost unusable after one week. I really wanted to love this product as it had great potential in the first few days of use - the tip allowed for precise and defined brow shaping, and the shade was richly pigmented (especially considering that I have jet black hair and I tested the Black Brown shade). The colour had impressive longevity and could stay put throughout the day without smudging or fading. I found that the colour in my brows lasted even after I went to exercise at the gym which was major plus in my books. However, I noticed that there was less and less colour deposit from the applicator after about a week of use. Even though I had kept the cap tightly closed, the tip felt dry and the colour was no longer as pigmented, making it difficult to achieve the desired look. This flaw in the design or formula of the applicator tip really needs to be addressed by Maybelline to improve the product. Ensuring that the applicator remains functional throughout the recommended usage period would not only enhance the overall use experience but make this a standout product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to try this build a brow product but was disappointed by the product not dispensing from the wand, on first time use I thought it was light due to the initial use of the product however after shaking the pen and trying again the product still did not appear on my skin and I gave up after a couple of days of trying. Not sure if the product was old and the liquid had dried up or what. I did try looking it up on YouTube and followed the instructions but still had no luck in using it. I am disappointed but would try this product again as the idea sounded really good.

I have light and sparse brows. I found it difficult to ensure equal product distribution on both sides - so my biggest issue was mismatched brows. On an individual basis, I likes the ease of use, the tiny brush and gel to set, but I just could not get both sides even, which I don't usually have an issue with using other products. I also found it not as long lasting as I would expect. A couple of times I did smudge it into the surrounding skin across the day. I am sure this can be a great product, but it just wasn't right for me.

I have quite thick, full brows and I found that the thin tip just did not apply nice strokes on my brows. Instead I found the tip just got product in random gaps in my eyebrows rather than nice hair like strokes as my hairs got in the way. A positive though is that once I did eventually get enough product on to my liking it did wear well throughout the day! I really liked the idea of the gel end as part of a two in one product but unfortunately the spoolie was not long enough to tame my brows easily and I found the it did not hold my eyebrows in place all day. Overall I can absolutely see the appeal of this product and do think that it would suit people with thinner/finer brow hairs but unfortunately it did not suit me.

I was lucky to get the exact shade match I needed which was the soft brown and the colour was spot on. I have sparse eyebrows so this type of product is ideal for me. I'm a child of the 90s with the thin eyebrows trend at the time which is now giving me grief when a fuller eyebrow is the way to go. Anyway, the first time I used it, I seemed to get a bit of a result, but then it just didn't seem to want to work. I couldn't get the application of the 'strokes' needed to build how I wanted it to look which resulted in a lopsided appearance. When I wiped it off and tried to apply again, the pen didn't want to dispense any product. It may be my (lack of) technique, but I wouldn't purchase this product in the future.

The product does work well if you have the time to put into it. The brush allows for precise application, and the formula is buildable so you can achieve your desired level of thickness and definition. I was also pleased with the color match - it blended seamlessly with my natural brows and looked quite natural. However, I do not think this product is worth the price. While it does a decent job, I have used other brow products that are equally as good (if not better) at a lower cost. Overall, if you have the time and patience to use this product, it can give you great results. But if you're looking for a more affordable option, you may want to explore other brow products on the market.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Lara H. from Not a fan [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If I’m having a “no” makeup day, I apply two things to my face, an eyebrow product to define and shape my brows and a lipstick for a bit of colour and moisture. When I tried Maybelline’s Build-A-Brow, I had high hopes this would be a great eyebrow defining product. Unfortunately not. The application brush was flimsy and you had to repeat, repeat, repeat and press the whole tip to your skin rather than use it like a drawing pencil to actually start noticing any colour being applied. Because of this it was a case of extremes. Nothing noticeable to a solid tattoo gone wrong look. Other products I’ve used give you much more control and allow you to define your brows and build up a look. It did fill in sparse areas but the texture made it look like a stamp on eyebrow and not natural or defining at all. Potentially, the colour I tried may have made the appearance more noticeably wrong. I trialled Medium Brown which was much too light and didn’t match my darker eyebrow natural colour. Whilst the bad did outweigh the good there was some wins. If this product does suit you, know that it didn’t fade or smudge all day and the clear gel application was the best part and comparative to other products on the market. The clear gel did hold my brows in place and the application was easy. The contained clear gel doesn’t stay clear for long though as when you use the brush on your brows that you’ve drawn on, it ends up picking up colour on this brush and going back into the clear gel. After 1 week the gel tube started to look a little murky and ick. Overall I would not recommend this product to anyone and I would not repurchase. There are much better brow products on the market that are easier to apply and are more defining and natural for the look I want.

I found the thin tip was not able to apply enough product to be able to create the feather look and instead would need to push the length of the sick on my eye brows to be able to have any colour transfer to my brows. The colour was ok and the product was long lasting as describe however that is the only positive thing I say about this. The brush on the gel end was too small to cover the width of my brows and was not strong enough to hold the shape of my brows. Also as the packaging of gel is clear it would discolour in the tube as the brush would collect foundation and brow colour when applying. Overall I would not recommend this product nor would I purchase.
