1. What is a hair cuticle?
The hair cuticle is the outermost part of the hair shaft. It's comprised of overlapping cells that resemble fish scales. It's there to protect the inner layers of your hair (like the follicle) from damage and provides shine.

For my hair it felt like I had to use alot of the shampoo to get my hair to feel clean and not oily feeling. The smell was really nice. It did leave my hair feeling a little softer but not an overall difference.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty product but not life changing [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shampoo comes in a nice pink bottle and is pink in colour which is awesome, it has a nice fragrance. It goes on smoothly to the hair and suds up really well. The shampoo washed out easily. I wouldn’t say the product seemed to make much of a difference, it didn’t leave a noticeable nice smell the next day, no smell at all really. I would say my hair lasted 1 extra day compared to my regular shampoo. No shine left on the hair after it dried too

However, it left a slimy film on the floor of my shower, probably not great for my hair.

It smells so nice, almost like a perfume and the smell lasts for a long time. The leave in serum is probably my favourite because I can add a nice scent and some shine to my hair when it’s wet or dry!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was not its target user [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Glycolic Gloss Haircare routine as part of a trial and whist I loved the products individually, their scent, consistency and packaging are great on their own. I did find however that using the products as directed left my hair greasy, my scalp feeling thick and my hair showing signs of buildup and caking. The shampoo is quite thick and does lather well however it does take some work to do so The conditioner has a fine consistency but the amount received in the bottle is not comparable to shampoo meaning you run out of it much quicker The hair treatment is the only product I found I loved and would probably repurchase as used with other shampoo and conditioner it does leave the desired results and makes my hair shiny and easy to manage Finally the serum was a bit confusing as it initially appears as if the bottle is glittery however on use of the product the glitter is contained in the product itself, I would have loved this had there been any pay off of this glitter into the hair however it dissolves in the hair but never off the hands and only adds an oily, not shiny, look to the finished product once styled. I’m sure this product would be amazing for those with dry and dull hair however it was simply not for me.

The shampoo smells amazing and has a good lather. It is easy to use and to rinses off very easily as well. But for me it was no different to any other shampoo. It did not really do much in regards to enhancing the shine or the gloss of my hair. I have a curly dark hair and there was no noticeable change in the shine of my hair in the past few weeks. Not a bad shampoo at all but I would probably opt for something other that I use more regularly.

I really like how much the shampoo foams up and lathers without have to put too much effort into its. It doesn’t feel like as though it’s stripping my hair, although it does feel like it leaves a bit of build up/residue which once dried makes my hair look a little bit oily! It feels quite gentle of my hair as I have a fair bit of damage and broken hair..it feels quite nourishing. Overall it’s not a bad shampoo but i think I prefer a more clean feeling!

I do feel like the shampoo does do this, it doesn’t dry out hair and it does feel smooth and soft. The smell of the product is beautiful and a definite highlight. The formula lathers up well and cleans hair well but it’s just kind of lack-lustre. It’s a good shampoo but nothing special. It does say it seals the cuticle and fortifies bonds but I couldn’t speak on this, as I didn’t notice much of a difference in hair health. Overall is a decent product that smells beautiful but nothing special.

I felt like it washed my hair quite well, but it didn't do anything spectacular. It is heavily fragranced, so keep that in mind. It lathered up nicely and was very soapy. I had a build up of hairspray and gel from my slick back ponytail and this got through all the product. However, it left no lasting effect for my hair. I don't think my hair was any more manageable or soft or shiny after washing out the shampoo. It's okay, but I likely wouldn't repurchase or recommend it to my friends.

The did make my hair feel softer and shinier and did control some flyaways and some l. It lathers fine. I didn't notice that it made a difference to styling time. I would use the product up but I don't think I would repurchase in the future. The product has a really overwhelming fake smell that I didn't enjoy. I don't recommend the product. I think the glycolic acid claim is a gimmick noting that it's the very last ingredient in the bottle meaning it's probably not doing much as claimed. I also found the size of the product to quite small - 200ml, so not really value for money.

It had a strong, sweet smell and was pink in colour. The shampoo felt smooth on my hair, but getting a soapy lather was hard. With my thick hair, I found that it didn't clean as well as I would like, though it left my hair smelling and feeling okay. This product serves as a cheap alternative to higher-end shampoos, but it may not be the best choice for those with thicker hair who need a deeper clean. This product pairs best with the rest of its range

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using this for a month and I can’t say I’m fond of it, I always double shampoo but even by the second rinse my hair feels weighed down and my scalp still feels oily. Using with all the steps I didn’t notice any changes to the way it felt or looked, made my hair oily faster and I only wash twice a week usually but if I was to continue use these products if need to wash more than that to keep my hair looking and feeling good. I’m sure this product has been helpful to others but unfortunately not for myself.

The shampoo itself is a shiny pink, has a nice texture and shine and lathers well. The shampoo cleanses any excess oils and dirt from my hair quickly and easily, making my scalp feel thoroughly cleaned. It is however a bit harsh and drying so I would recommend it for those with thicker oilier hair rather than thin and brittle hair. It pairs really well the the Glycolic Gloss Conditioner which restores all the shine into my hair but by itself I would say the shampoo is just okay. Overall it's a solid shampoo - I would consider buying it in the future but it probably wouldn't be my top pick due to my own hair type (as it is more of the drier and thinner side)

The shampoo is a fun pink colour and has a nice, very light scent. It comes in a nice bottle made of recycled plastic and is a good size. I have found however, that it may not suit my hair best. I find that my hair feels clean straight after washing but then is somewhat oily after a day or two. This may be ok for someone who does not have oily hair. I really like the rest of the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Glycolic Gloss range but may substitute in a different shampoo. I would recommend trying this product and seeing if it suits your hair type as everything else about it ticks boxes!

The shampoo has a pleasant scent and creates a nice foam, which makes my hair look clean and glossy with less frizz. This is a great result that I appreciate very much. However, I also noticed that my hair gets oily and heavy faster after using the range. This is a drawback that affects my satisfaction with the products. I appreciate the chance to test these products, but I don't think they suit my hair type very well. Thank you for letting me participate in this trial and I hope you find my feedback useful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's ok [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been trialling the new Glycolic Gloss Range for the past few weeks and I have used the shampoo, conditioner & leave-in serum 3 or 4 times and the 5-minute lamination once. With the shampoo, it has a beautiful smell which isn’t overpowering, it lathers up nicely and makes me feel nice and clean (I do a double shampoo). My hair does feel shinier and I have less frizz. I do however feel like my hair feels oily and weighed down quicker. I will continue to use the range, but I don’t think I would buy it again.

I have thin bleached hair that is very frizzy. It did leave my hair very shiny but I didn't find it helped much with the frizz while using it in conjunction with other loreal elvive glycolic range. Also wanted to note that it didn't cause a reaction on my sensitive scalp. The packaging of the product feels very luxe and high end and the shampoo smells amazing. I wish it could have worked for me. I will not continue using this product due to the heaviness that it leaves on my hair but I would still recommend if you could get your hands on it to try it out.

The shampoo left my hair feeling very dry and plastic and the shine serum isn’t what it’s marketed to be. It simply is just filled with shimmer which makes the hair shine not that it’s actually dark shinning from within. I wouldn’t spend my own money on this range.

If you’re an oily hair girl, you might want to steer clear of this one. I also didn’t feel softer or any benefits to the overall health of my hair. I have quite dry, frizzy hair and can’t say that I saw any improvement. I also noticed some damage to my coloured hair (have copper colour) and feel like it made it fade much faster and almost turn yellow. So beware also if you have coloured hair. The smell is amazing though, I did really enjoy how it left a fragrance on my hair as well. Would definitely buy that smell as a perfume! Overall it was a very average experience for a shampoo.

It also created a reaction on my scalp, potentially due to the oils in the products. I have thick coloured hair and it definetly felt nice after washing. Although a few days after it felt heavy and oily. It did leave my hair very shiny alongside with other loreal elvive glycolic products. It did have a nice smell and packaging was rather nice. I didn't notice that some of the ingredients of the range include water insoluble silicones, which I tend to stay away from due to potential build up after filing the hair and then sometimes leaving the hair feeling lack lustre or damaged. I think this range really would potentially suit those who have curly hair or want their hair noticeably silky smooth, don't have issues with products that weight down the hair or oils. I myself won't continue to use this product due to the heaviness that it leaves on my hair, but suggest it's worth a try.

It took me 3 washes with clarifying shampoo to get rid of the residue left in my hair. It also made my hair very greasy and I’d have to wash it every 2nd day, but it didn’t help really as it made it even greasier. The dandruff got worse and worse every time I used these products as well. Would not recommend, as soon I had changed back to my regular shampoo and conditioner, my hair was instantly in better shape.

This product made my hair so dry and unmanageable that I wasn't even able to brush my fingers through after I rinsed out the shampoo. It was so dry that multiple hair masks/treatments wouldn't bring the moisture back into my hair. Took a few washes without this shampoo to be able to brush my hair without it tangling and knotting. I feel like it just ruined my hair instead of making it better
