Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using this balm primer as my base before makeup, and honestly, it's just okay. The texture is super thick—kind of like tofu—which makes it hard to pick up with just my finger. I have to use the back of my nail to scoop it out, which isn’t the most convenient. Once applied, it feels a bit heavy on my face, and I wish it had a smoother, more spreadable consistency. As for hydration, I haven’t really noticed much of a difference. The packaging is really simple, nothing fancy, and the scent is subtle, which is nice. Overall, it’s not a bad product, but it’s not amazing either. Just an average balm that does the job but could definitely be better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not ultra hydrating and not very smoothing [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Revlon Primer Review For context, I have a reasonably dry skin type and live in a dry environment. It’s also the Australian summer, so I had to trial this with sunscreen on everyday, which is already a highly moisturising agent. So it was tricky to get a grasp and accurately test this product under those conditions or on its own. Texture – this was such a fun texture, which is quite had to describe, perhaps a ‘putty’ that is squishy and fun to touch. However, that sort of texture does me that you need to scrape it out a bit with the back of a nail or spoon because it doesn’ transfer onto your finger as smoothly as a cream (other people said they received an applicator – did I miss this?). I loved the texture! It's fun to squish. The product is scented lightly but I do quite like the smell (no idea what it is but it smells fresh and pleasant and not too perfumed). Onto the performance of the product, for me, this is in no way hydrating enough to be a standalone moisturiser – I don’t think it’s intended to be one, but because it’s a moiturising primer perhaps there are people out there who are keen to skip a step – this product wouldn’t do that for you. It also doesn't really add enough moisture for me to bother adding it in as a skincare step. I don’t think this product was especially ‘ blurring’ or smoothing which for me is one of the only reasons I would use a primer, to get that effect. Perhaps its not intended to be, but I think a lot of people associate primers with that benefit. It’s tricky for me to know whether this extended the longevity of foundation as I usually only wear foundation for short periods. Ultimately I liked this product texturally and scent wise - but as someone who doesn’t see the need for primer in general, this certainly hasn’t converted me to the cause and would be an unecesary step in my routine , for not a whole lot of benefit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to be a part of this trial and see what a 2 in1 moisturiser/primer was like! I usually only use a primer when using a more heavily foundation for events or nights out so I was very curious about using one for every day wear. The product has a wonderful light citrus smell which transports you right into summer. The product absorbed well into my skin and didn't cause any irritation or sensitivity, yet throughout the course of the day I found my foundation to be dry/patchy in certain areas which doesn't happen normally. I didn't find it brightened or smoothened out my skin across the trial as advertised in the description. This could be down to needing to use it over a longer period of time, but unfortunately I'm not the biggest fan of this and wouldn't consider adding it to my daily routine. I realised I like to keep my moisturiser and primer as two seperate products in my beauty routine. It's got a wonderful smell and feel, but unfortunately this didn't add positively to my makeup application and it wouldn't be a product I'd recommend to friends and family. In saying this, others might have a more positive experience depending on their skin type and the foundation they use. I love the idea of combining products to save on costs and time, sadly this one just isn't for me!
