Rated 4 out of 5 by Keri Z. from Good For Fine Hair [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First impressions of the TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Shampoo with Silk Proteins & Argan Oil is that it is a thinner consistency than I would normally buy. This gave way to ease of dispensing without wasting product. The shampoo was easy to apply and use. The container dispensed well especially considering slippery shower conditions, but the option of a pump would work nicely for the larger bottle. Nice and creamy application with a foamy lather being achieved. The shampoo has a pleasant “green apple” scent which is fresh and modern (no-one wants to smell like Nanna’s favourite floral toilet spray perfume!). The clean fragrance was not overpowering, and did not linger in my hair after drying. This is what I prefer as I don’t want my hair competing with my expensive perfume signature scent. My hair is fine and thin, short to bob length, not coloured, and my scalp and ends tend to be dry. I workout daily and I need a shampoo that keeps me clean enough so I don’t need to shampoo more that 2-4 times per week. The level of cleansing was good without stripping or over-cleansing which sometimes happens with harsher foaming concentrates. The lather rinsed well in warm or cold water. I was left with clean, but not squeaky clean hair. This product serves me well to achieve clean, balanced hair with a nice bounce. My hair was silky but not overly limp and soft which is the enemy of volume for fine hair. My scalp was not irritated and felt clean over the next few days until wash day rolled around. Dried my hair as usual and no fluffy fly aways. Just clean, smooth, manageable hair. This represents excellent value for money and with the TRESemmé brand name you are definitely getting a high quality product to rival the “designer” brands that charge exorbitant prices. TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner with Silk Proteins & Argan Oil is equal to any luxury brand purchases I have indulged in in the past. Plus, the value for money packaging means you are consuming less plastic which must be beneficial to the environment. Having used several times since, my initial impression review stands.

If you’re looking for an affordable option, this may be the one for you. I have very thick hair and I usually go through quite a lot of shampoo when washing as I do the double shampoo, one conditioner. On application, I found this shampoo to spread a lot further than a lot of other products I use. Using less, and spending less on the product in general means I’ll save a lot of money on my unruly hair. I found it lathered really well, and the smell was surprisingly great! The smell lasted on my hair for days after washing. I noticed that my hair was slightly less frizzy after using this shampoo, and it didn’t leave that coarse feeling in between shampooing & conditioner like I notice with some other products. Paired with the conditioner, I’d definitely use this again.

Usually I would not purchase a supermarket shampoo or conditioner as I find them to be of poor quality but this one has surprised me. The shampoo lathered really, really well and was very sudsy (does contain SLS though) which allowed for a thorough lather and felt super clean! Shampoo was easy to rinse out and hair felt smooth an soft (when wet still) and not dry or coarse as have had with others in the past. The smell is divine and I also like the texture. All in all, I would consider buying this shampoo alongside salon quality shampoos in the future. The price point is also awesome and affordable especially if you have kids

I have always purchased the moisture rich version of shampoo, but am beyond happy to have tried the Smooth and silky version. So it smells great, packaging is the standard tresemmè packaging but I love the teal colouring. First use was pretty standard, I always double shampoo, great lather and quick rinse out. It smells divine! I followed with the smooth and silky conditioner and again not really blown away at this point, my hair felt nice but it always does when freshly washed and still wet. It wasn't until my hair air dried that I realised how great this product is! I live in Queensland and it is quite humid here all the time! Yet my hair dried with 0 frizz, and looked less dry then before. I will continue to use and make a final decision when I reach the end of the bottle but overall I am so far very happy with this product and would recommend to anyone but especially those with dry, frizz prone hair!

My long locks were becoming worse for wear waiting for lockdown to end (and a long overdue haircut!) But it's already soft again and the split ends not so noticeable. In combination with the matching conditioner it's a match made in heaven and smells as good as it feels. The larger size containers are extremely convenient and make it great value for money. Not only affordable but a bargain too. I was so impressed I told my kids to try it out too. My youngest has already given it a go and is also suitability impressed. It is such great quality for an affordable price. The smell was pleasant and not too overpowering. The consistency of the shampoo was lovely and soft and easy to apply throughout my knotty hair. When my hair dried it felt incredibly soft and silky like the bottle says. I am very impressed with this product. My hair is incredibly bleached and damaged and after using this, it feels nice and healthy. I will continue to use this product!

I initially had some difficulty getting into the pump part of the bottle (it would be great to see a direction arrow like some pump bottles feature). The shampoo frothed up nicely with only one pump required for my shoulder length hair. The shampoo washed out squeaky clean, just like when you do a clarifying shampoo at the salon, with no residue remaining. However, after using the shampoo for the past week, I haven't really noticed any reduction in frizz. I would use this product irregularly as a clarifying shampoo, rather than an everyday product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was fortunate enough to be one of the few to trial the Tressemé Smooth and Silky shampoo as well as the conditioner. Now I have tried other types of TRESSemmé products over the years with mixed feelings, so I was interested to see how this went! As you pumped the product from the bottle you could FEEL how silky this product was just by how it felt on the hands as you went to apply it to your hair. I found the bottle gave generous amounts and that it accommodated my long hair. The product lathered nicely without much effort or extra use, which is always a bonus. It had a nice smell, I think floral? I just know it was a pleasant smell as I mixed the silky feeling liquid through my hair. Immediately after rinsing I could FEEL that it had made a different in the way my hair felt, something I am not always familiar with happening so quickly so was very happy by that! My hair ended up being as the product described once dried - it felt very smooth and very silky. Any split ends I had that felt rough on the ends had become far more softer than before. My hair flowing nicely and being more manageable and nice to brush. It also didn’t leave me too dry or too oily, which was great! It felt like a nice result all around.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lynmb38 from Basic and economical shampoo [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] TRESemme Smooth & Silky Shampoo states it has a "salon quality formula" but it is basically a supermarket shampoo which is very economical to buy and does an ok job. The shampoo contains sunflower seed oil and vitamin A which are thought to be beneficial for drier hair, and I was very pleased to see that it states it contains no parabens, alcohol or dyes. However it does contain the lathering agent, sodium laureth sulfate (which many shampoos do contain). The bottles the shampoo comes in are a huge 940mls. Over the last few weeks I have regularly used the shampoo on my thick wavy, frizz prone hair and found it is reasonably effective. It cleans and lathers up well but I did find I needed to use quite a bit of it, and I needed to wash my hair more often, (so its giant size bottle is probably a good thing). I found the fragrance or smell of it quite strong and my husband did comment on how strong the smell of it was too . It has a slightly artificial, fruity bubblegum smell which is ok but not really my favourite. Having said that the smell dissipates quickly when your hair dries and my frizz is quite well tamed by this shampoo. It is not as stripping as a lot of supermarket shampoos can be. However after two weeks of use my hair was crying out for something more nourishing.

I like the packaging of this product, the colour and funky font, and also appreciated the size, with prices going up at the supermarket it's good to buy in bulk and this shampoo will last quite a while. It comes with a pump which makes it easier to use and I like that it had a very mild fragrance. It lathers well, that's because it contains sulphates. I found it easy to rinse from my hair. When used in conjunction with the matching conditioner my frizz was reduced considerably, probably by about 90%. My hair felt softer and looked shinier. My scalp felt a bit dry though, and I would have preferred a sulphate free shampoo. This contains a few natural ingredients like sunflower oil, vitamins and silk protein but I think the moisture they would have added to my hair was nullified by the addition of sodium laureth sulphate. I would have liked to have had longer to trial this but the title of my review basically sums up my experience with this product. It helps reduce frizz and if you are'nt too picky about the ingredients in your shampoo then you will like this one.

Fortunately, I was given the opportunity to be part of the Trial Team to test TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Shampoo. As I’ve aged, I have found that my hair is getting frizzier and harder to manage and style. So I was excited to try this shampoo with its claims of taming unruly hair by calming frizz and flyaways. I was only able to use this product a couple of times during the trail period. Loved the fragrance which was fresh and absolutely divine. It lathered easily and I didn’t require an excessive amount for my thick, long hair which was great. The product left my hair extremely soft, initially smooth and my hair didn’t go greasy for 3 days. However, in the short period of use, it didn’t improve or reduce my frizz, or help defend against humidity. I’d recommend this product as an affordable shampoo for clean and soft hair. But as for help with frizz, this wouldn’t be my choice.

It’s been foiled, so it’s a little dry, but not too bad. It does get a little frizzy in the dry weather. I have used a lot of different products over the years as trial and error and have a pretty solid routine that works for me, but am always looking for improvements. If you have curly hair – you’ll know. This shampoo smells quite strong, not unpleasant, but not pleasant either. It lathers well (even with the hard water). It seemed to clean my hair well, washing out the curly products without being too drying, but wasn’t what my scalp needed. Seemed to rinse well too. In conjunction with the matching conditioner, it just doesn’t work for me unfortunately. It left my hair looking and feeling pretty greasy and kind of flat and limp. I think this would probably suit someone with type 1 or 2 hair that’s quite dry much better.

It lathered well, and was very easy to apply to my hair when wet, and after rinsing, my hair had been well cleansed. My hair is colored, long, dry and curly, and after shampooing, it was somewhat dull and flat. The price is great, making it very affordable for the budget minded. I would have also preferred a dispenser, instead of a screw on lid. This is a good basic shampoo, that does get your hair clean, but for now I will stick with my regular hair shampoo.

My hair is feral, first to admit that!! My daughter also used this product and it was great for her non coloured hair long hair. Would recommend for price but not if your hair is in poor condition. Bottle is a great size and good for sitting in the bottom of the shower. Smell is Devine and you don’t need a whole lot to go a long way so value for money. Works better in conjunction with the conditioner. Would be great with a pump on top to make it easier to get out instead of handling a big bottle.. worked pretty well with straightening afterwards.

It does the job and somewhat tames the hair and makes it smooth. It is kinda just the same as mainstream shampoos in the market. It was great to try but probably will not buy with my own money. Packaging is also not so convenient because it has no pump , you have to tip over the big bottle. There are better ones with the same price point. Prefer those with pump on the bottle since it makes it so much easier and faster to get the right amount of product.

I have tried 'smoothing' shampoos but they have just weighed down my hair and made it feel oily. This shampoo didn't do that. It smells amazing, that was my first impression when I opened the lid. It lathers easily and washes out without any hassle. I wouldn't say this was amazing at making my hair any smoother or silkier than any other shampoo, and it didn't protect my hair from humidity. Overall, this is a good general shampoo if you want something that's going to wash your hair well at a budget price, but don't expect perfectly silky smooth strands.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Joanne C. from Good for a Supermarket Shampoo [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I'm usually pretty fussy with what goes on my hair and reality is that this shampoo just doesn't quite live up to my standards but in saying that, it's actually not too bad for a shampoo that you can easily buy at the supermarket and it won't break the bank. I do have dry hair and a normal scalp. I found that it lathers very easily and smells nice (I did get some compliments on how my hair smelt). It gave a good, semi-nourishing clean (so my hair never felt stripped). I followed this with it's matching conditioner. It didn't help my frizziness though in the end after drying. So this was disappointing as I would have through because of the silk proteins and argan oil, it would have smoothed it down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Phoebe S. from Lovely product but not super 'silky' [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shampoo has a beautiful scent that reminds me of getting my hair done at the salon but it isn't overpowering in any way - I get headaches easily from strong scents but no issues here. It's thick and easy to work into the hair and get a good lather. I will say that my hair wasn't as 'silky' as I was expecting after washing with it which is a little disappointing - it wasn't super fizzy or dry, but just not super smooth (for reference I have a natural wave/curl but by no means super curly or frizzy hair). My hair has plenty of volume with this product, maybe even more than usual, which can sometimes be an issue with 'smoothing' products that weight it down. I would still definitely recommend it based off the scent and bang for buck.

Paired with the TRESemme smooth and silky Conditioner with silk proteins and again oil, it's almost a chefs kiss. Left mine and my partners hair feeling soft, silky, clean and smooth. Only thing I can fault packaging wise is that the product for the shampoo bottle was hard to squeeze out. The product was too thick for the nozzle and made you work a little to get out the shampoo from the bottle. Had a light but pleasant fragrance and even left my skin feeling soft from washing my hair in the shower. Recommend 10000000%

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jacque L. from Great smell but I wouldn't purchase in the future [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shampoo has a great silky texture and it smells fantastic! Once you start washing, you only need a little bit to make a great amount of foam and wash all your scalp and hair. My hair is dark, long, straight and normal and frizzy on the roots with dry split ends. It will leave your hair smelling amazing for many hours. But unfortunately it made my hair look dull, even dryer for some reason and lifeless. I was hoping for a super shiny, non frizzy, malleable and soft hair and it didn't help me achieve these results. It gave a great volume to my hair, which I liked. Please note, your hair type probably have to be very dry to use this product. Mine is normal on the roots and dry on the end. It didn't help much with the look of split ends either. I also felt like on the roots it looked more frizzy than usual. I have been using vegan, all natural shampoos and conditioners free of sulphates and parabens for a while now, and that is probably also the reason why my hair didn't adapt to this formula. I wish the bottles were fully done with a better and more sustainable material than plastic, also don’t love the design of the bottles at all. If you want your bathroom looking good You probably won’t go for these products. I honestly won't purchase this product in the future.
