Frequently Asked Questions

Are all irons the same?

No, they are not. When taking an iron supplement, it is important to check the amount of elemental iron per dose. Many supplements containing iron have only small amounts of elemental iron per dose, often less than 24mg. These are dietary supplements and are not intended for the treatment of iron deficiency.

Is Maltofer suitable for pregnancy?

If your iron causes constipation, try Maltofer. Maltofer is suitable for use in pregnancy. Maltofer has been used for over 50 years to correct iron levels in pregnant women. Clinical studies have shown that Maltofer correct iron deficiency in pregnant women with significantly fewer gastrointestinal side effects.**

Is Maltofer suitable for vegans and vegetarians?

Yes, Maltofer is suitable for vegans and vegetarians as it contains no ingredients of animal origin.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR USE.

General Information

Maltofer is an oral iron therapy for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency in adults and adolescents where the use of ferrous iron supplements is not tolerated or is otherwise inappropriate. Maltofer is less likely to cause constipation compared to ferrous sulfate iron.

Australia's No.1 selling therapeutic oral iron^, Maltofer has fewer gastrointestinal side effects and is less likely to cause constipation compared to ferrous sulfate iron. This means less constipation, less nausea, and an effective dose of iron. The absorption of iron from Maltofer takes place by a controlled mechanism. Maltofer does not release large amounts of iron at once, which is why it is less likely to cause gastrointestinal side effects like constipation. Maltofer's active ingredient, iron polymaltose, ensures your body only absorbs the iron it needs when it is needed, providing reliable correction of iron levels.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best feature of Maltofer is that you take it with food so it’s gentle on your tummy. The price is a bit higher than some brands though so it gets 4 stars.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Limited supply I am unable to purchase more than one packet at a time which will become very costly in respect to shipping costs as I live a distance from the store. My doctor wants me to take two a day. I am unable to purchase a good supply to avoid shipping costs. When I rang they could not tell me why this "rule" "condition" applies.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great price - but saving eaten up by checkout wai Finding that I can well tolerate Maltofer - none of the usual iron supplement side effects. Pity that the amount I saved in purchasing from Chemist warehouse was (and is generally) exceeded by the cost of time waiting for checkout.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Affordability Very good tablet but bit expensive. Basic needs shouldn’t b expensive. This is not luxury, As no one wants or create vitamins or minerals deficiency by themselves. It happens and comes so basic necessities should b affordable.
