Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smoothing Macadamia Hair Food This product is advertised as one that can be used in 3 different ways: conditioner, hair mask or leave-in treatment. I never used this as a leave-in, however I did use as both a conditioner and hair mask, but found that the most beneficial use of this for my hair was as a hair mask. The best thing about this product is the fantastic macadamia fragrance - it smells divine and I also found that the fragrance was long-lasting and that I could still catch whiffs of it throughout the next day! The product is thick, but not too thick and was easy to apply throughout the lengths of my hair. I have long, thick hair and did find that I needed a generous amount, however as this is so reasonably priced I was more than happy to oblige! As a conditioner, I didn't really notice any significant difference to my hair. As a mask, I found that my hair was softer and more manageable and easier to style.

At $12.00 it’s great value and a tub willl last me at least six months, I only need to use this once a week. It smells divine and is really easy to use in the shower, I just scoop it out and slather it on, leave for about ten minutes and rinse thoroughly. This is an intense conditioning treatment that leaves my hair super soft and shiny. I have very thick hair that is hard to tame and can get dry, it’s really hard to get it smooth and sleek. This garnier hair food smoothing macadamia for dry and unruly hair hydrates and helps with styling my hair, it leaves a nice shine and my hair feels really soft after styling. I love that it contains no silicons and parabens to weigh my hair down, it’s a great product that I would recommend

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive at home hair mask I've got thick dry hair which needed a little TLC so i gave this a go. Its fairly inexpensive, and comes in a little tub that lasts a while. There is no silicone or parabens, and can be used either as a leave in treatment, hair mask or conditioner. I've used as the conditioner/hair mask, and apply to the end of my hair, leave it for a while then rinse out. Its got a nice subtle scent, and I was actually surprised that I didn't need to use too much product on my long thick hair. I finger combed the product through the ends. I've been using it for a while now, and notice my hair is in better condition, doesn't tangle as much and is a lot softer to touch

I don't use it every wash as I feel like it would weigh my hair down if I did, but it's nice to use as an occasional mask treatment. The only thing I don't like is the packaging, using a tub in the shower can be awkward, I much prefer pump packaging for conditioners.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hair is smooth and easy to detangle My hair is wavy, rather than curly, but still can get pretty fizzy and dry, so I gave this conditioner a try. I also really like the idea that it can be used as a conditioner, hair mask or leave-in treatment. I tried all three uses, plus I've also used it as a co-wash, and I found that it works best when I rinse it off. When I use it as a leave-in conditioner without rinsing it out, even the tiniest amound of product weighs my hair down. However, when I use it as a conditioner/mask/co-wash, I always use a generous amount to make my hair soft, smooth, and easy to detangle. The formula is very thick and creamy, so I always end up using a generous amount. However, using a lot of this product makes the product easier to apply evenly, gives me better results, and I don't mind using a lot as it's so affordable. I enjoyed the scent too, it's sweet, but not too sweet, and mostly reminds me to coconut, maybe with a hint of cocoa butter.

Very happy with this product. It truly does moisturises my hair leaving it soft. The best thing is that its made of 98% natural ingredients so no harsh chemicals. This product can be used 3 ways. 1. as a leave in moisturiser. 2. as a deep treatment mask and 3. as a normal wash out conditioner. I use this every few days and found my hair is more soft. It has a nice scent too. Once I finish this tub I will try the other types in this range.

Packaged in a generous 390ml tub I can quickly scoop it up and slather it all over my hair when it needs extra nourishment. The results: shiny, smooth, frizz-free hair! Love it!

I've noticed after applying some after washing my hair that it help detangle and smoothing out my hair. Its easy to apply to the ends of my hair combine with a detangling comb. The tub is a great size and easy to scoop out the product. It doesn't make my hair greasy or heavy and it smells amazing.

I left it on as a hair mask and wrapped my hair in a towel for 10 minutes. My hair felt softer to touch and smooth afterwards. It has a nice smell. It can be used for hair mask, conditioner.

I only have a slight wave to my hair, so using this mask weighed down my hair a little bit. The mask is quite dense and full of nourishing hair oils, designed to tame the frizz. Free from silicones and other nasties so meets the curly girl recommendations! I use this as a leave in conditioner, and deep conditioning treatment. My hair has never felt better. Also love the smell. Has definately helped reduce my frizz, smoothing my curls, leaving them super shiny! I try not to use to much if using as a leave in, because it can be quite heavy.

Nourish hair with no weigh down. Can be used as: A conditioner; apply to wet hair after shampoo, then rinse. A mask; apply to wet hair after shampoo and conditioner. Leave in for 1 minute, then rinse. Leave in; apply to wet or dry hair. Dispense a 10 cent amount focusing on mid lengths or ends. About the product: The Garnier Fructis Smoothin Macadamia Hair Food Mask comes in a very generous 390ml plastic tub with a brown screw top lid. The texture of the mask is quite creamy, it has good slip and is very easy to spread throughout the lengths of the hair. The colour of the mask is an off white colour, the scent is gorgeous and light. Nutty and very slightly floral. My thoughts on the product: I quite enjoyed using this hair mask, the scent of it reminds me a little of Moroccanoil products. It is a lovely, sweet, nutty scent that doesn't linger long and is not at all offensive. I used this as a hair mask after shampooing, I left it on for up to five minutes before rinsing. I found that for my waist length hair I did need to use quite a lot of product each time to fully coat from the mid lengths to the ends. One tub gave me about 15-20 applications, for the length and thickness of my hair that is actually quite good. I found this mask very easy to rinse out with no dreaded residual film or tacky feeling left behind. The mask wasn't as richly nourishing for my hair as I was hoping it would be, I would describe the feeling more like a very good conditioner than a deeply hydrating mask. It left my feeling quite soft, easy to brush but that is all, it was just like using a good quality conditioner. It certainly doesn't leave the hair feeling weighed down, I found it to deliver on it's promise of nourishing the hair with no weigh down. The final verdict: While this wasn't as richly nourishing as I was hoping for in by no means is it a bad product, my hair needs something richer. For my hair this has the effect of a very good quality conditioner, it leaves the hair soft and easy to manage but that is all that it does. It provides lightweight moisture and softness. For my hair I prefer more richly hydrating treatments. I have given it 4/5 stars as it does deliver on it's promise, it is excellent value for money and I did enjoy using this. If you are looking for a lightweight moisturising hair mask I recommend this one. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good masque with lots of natural ingredients Seems like "unruly" is also meant to apply to curly hair? And I don't really understand the age demographic for the Team Trial. All ages can suffer from the issues these products claim to fix. That said, I have the Macadamia version. I have curly hair and was looking for an product readily available in Australia with minimal/no sulphates, parabens and silicones. This is good for a deep condition with a shower cap or thermal cap. It coats the hair quite thickly and you really need to make sure you rinse it out properly. I like that it gave you different options for use: leave-in, deep condition, 1-minute mask etc

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes hair very soft :) I recently picked this up for half price at Chemist Warehouse and I admit the TV ad sucked me in, so snaps to the Garnier marketing team because otherwise I doubt I would of noticed this product as the packaging didn't really jump out to me from the shelf. The product comes in a large white tub with a dark brown lid with a fair amount of product inside. I can't say enough how pleased I am that this product contains mostly natural ingredients, and things such as real macadamia oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil and sweet almond oil which all have very hydrating and nourishing properties. I like the smell of this mask but after repeatedly smelling it I started to find it sickly-sweet. That said, the smell didn't linger in my hair too strongly after rinsing it out, but rather left behind a pleasant lighter scent which reminded me a bit of cocoa/shea butter scented products. I found this product to have a thick formula but I was pleased about that because I find thicker masks easier to work through my hair. Thinner ones can run out of my hands and be more difficult to concentrate on certain areas of hair (eg. mid-lengths and ends). So this products thickness earnt it one star for me. The size of the product earns it another star, and also the fact that it left my hair with improved combability, softness and a pleasant scent earns it a third star. Finally, I give this product a fourth star for having mostly natural ingredients, as I generally favour natural and organic skincare and haircare. The reason I did not give this product a full 5 stars is because I felt it could have been a little more hydrating. The added oils of macadamia, jojoba, sweet almond and coconut is fantastic, but I do wonder how much of these oils are in the product and how much they are really penetrating into my hair. And since I felt my hair could of been a lot softer, I feel this product only deserves 4 stars. That said, I would re-purchase it because the price was great and it makes a great substitute when I can't afford salon quality hair masks.

Since using the Garnier Smoothing Macadamia formula, my hair feels more hydrated and is certainly easier to manage. I have noticed a significant reduction in tangles since using it as a leave in conditioner and as a post conditioning mask. I have also used this in my daughters very fine hair and found it is gentle and nourishing without weighing down her hair. It seems to be a fantastic "all rounder" product.

And i love the fact that it says on the packaging how much of it is natural ingredients. While there is still a small percentage of unnatural ingredients i understand that it would be to preserve the product. I also love that it shows what the ingredients are, instead of just having the scientific name it has the common name. Which i found really cool because not all of us know what the scientific name really is. I have only used it a couple of times and it has made my hair feel soft. Having dyed blonde hair, my hair needs a lot of moisture and repair mask. I often use various types of oils like coconut oil, shea butter and macadamia oil.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hydrating and lightweight I was lucky enough to get to try this as part of the trial team along with the shampoo and conditioner. The packaging is pretty and makes it very obvious that it's heavy in natural ingredients. It comes in a tub. Personally I'm not a tub fan because it can be hard to juggle in the shower and not get water in there but most masks are these days. Aside from that I didn't notice any super strong doors and the consistency was quite thick as you'd expect from a good mask. I first used the Hair Food in place of conditioner because #mumlife. And when I had time used it after the conditioner. I have been using pretty protein heavy shampoo and conditioners for a while so this was a lovely hydrating change! And then when I have balayage hair so its in need of love. I found the mask hydrating and so light!! My hair wasn't weighed down at all. I have weirdly textured hair. It's not straight but not curly and fuzzes a lot. So it didn't help with taming the main but it did smooth the fly aways!

I usually stick to high end hair treatments and this one was a great alternative if you are on a busget but still looking for a mask that packs a punch. After shampooing I apply a generous ammount to the mid and lengths of my hair and leave on to do its work while I shave my legs and all that jazz. The result is smooth soft hair that was not at all weighed down which is sometimes my concern with such a thick mask like this. The smell was great, not too overpowering. My only criticism would be the packaging is a screw lid which is hard to get on and off in the shower. Otherwise, great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thick and luxurious hair food! I have been using this Garnier Macadamia Hair Food product for a few weeks and have come to appreciate the thick texture of it! One of my favourite things about this product is the scent- it smells so luxurious for an affordable brand and reminds me of the body shop which is a wonderful feature. I use a scoop on the ends of my hair from below ear length and find it clings to my hair and properly hydrates it unlike most other drugstore type hair products which slip right off without penetrating my strands. The tub is nice to look at and I like that it matches the other new varieties Garnier have released with it (I just bought the banana version to try next!) I do find the lid a little hard to screw back on after use but that is common among screw top lidded products and the product needs to be in a tub because of the thickness. I think ladies with thick hair will love this product most.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth and shiny Thanks Beautyheaven for giving me the opportunity to try out Garnier Fructis Smoothing Macadamia Hair Food. My hair has never felt so smooth and nourished. The product comes in a tub that makes it easy to scope out into your palm when applying to your hair. The scent smells fruity and sweet without it being too overpowering. After shampooing my hair I applied the mask to the ends of my hair and left it on for a couple of minutes to ensure it penetrated into my hair. After rinsing the mask out I instantly noticed that my hair was so silky and smooth. As I ran my fingers through my hair there was not one tangle at all. Combing my hair was also a breeze without any tugging or pulling on my hair. Overall I'm really impressed with Garnier Fructis Smoothing Macadamia Hair Food. My hair looks noticeably nourished, smooth and healthy without looking weighed down. I would definitely continue on using this mask to maintain my nourished looking hair and I would recommend this product to anyone who is struggling with dry and damaged hair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Massive tub, Smells really good I was so surprised to see such a large tub come in the mail! The smell is a mix between fruity, coconut and nutty- it comes off a bit strong and a tinge of artificial for those with sensitive noses. I mainly use this product as a hair mask after conditioner and rinse it off, or sometimes before my shower ill load it onto my hair, wait for an hour or so and then go rinse it off, shampoo, etc. I find that its quite moisturising and even though the tub says that this hair food can be left in as a leave in conditioner, I haven't personally tried as the texture of the hair food is really quite thick and I wouldn't want it to weigh down my hair. All in all, it does a good job at keeping your hair moisturised and smelling fresh! I would recommend it for those with medium to dry hair- definitely apply from roots to around shoulders and probably wouldn't want it anywhere near roots (not sure if it could clog it up). It's a nice in-shower hair mask and the amount you get is seriously impressive, not sure if I can even get through the whole tub in one year!

Ok so when I initially received this product I was quite surprised by the 98% natural origin, which I think is great and was not something I expected from garnier. I got the macadamia which smells great, but a bit stronger than I would like. The ingredients list looks amazing and seems like it would do wonders for my hair, with oils like macadamia, almond, jojoba, and coconut to name a few. The product itself comes in a relative sized tub, which is my biggest annoyance regarding this product as the product isn’t very thick, and can get messy when using it out of the tub, especially if you try to use it in the shower. That’s another great thing you can use this conditioner in multiple ways: a conditioner, mask, or a leave in. Personally I tried it as a mask and conditioner and was very pleased. The product is actually on the thinner side, but with a creamy consistency if that makes sense. It makes my hair so smooth and manageable without weighing it down. And given the ingredients list I would love to see how it benefits my hair in the long term.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great and smells amazing! i have absolutely loved trialling the GarnierFructis Smootbing Macadamia Hair Food! and it is aimed at Dry and Unruly Hair. First of all, i love the packaging and the tub is BIG! the packaging feels really sturdy and everything written on it is really clear and simple. i love that it is 98% Natural origin ingredients. the product itself smells amazing! and i think the face that it can be used as a intense conditioner or a hair mask is great, one product that can work in different ways is always a winner for me. Applying the product is so much easier with the tub than trying to squeeze product out of a bottle, so i was able to get a lot of product to coat my hair really easily. i used it as a hair mask as i have straight manageable hair and it left my hair feeling amazing! so smooth and shiny and then my mum, who has thick curly hair used it as an intense conditioner after her Shampoo and it left her hair feeling so sofr, more nourished and really defined her curls. i would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a multipurpose hair treatment and will absolutely consider purchasing this after i run out. Now that summer is long gone and the colder days have descended upon us that means my hair will be more susceptible to becoming dry and frizzy. I normally use conditioner because it's the quickest and easiest option but I find that hair masks work really well at keep my hair hydrated and smooth. The Fructis smoothing macadamia hair food comes in a huge tub that I guarantee will last you at least six months. It contains a whole heap of ingredients including macadamia oils and coconut oil. When I opened it up the contents had a brown colour which wasn't the prettiest things I've seen but it did smell nice and I could pick up the coconut scents. After I shampooed my hair I grabbed a small amount of the hair cream and applied it to the middle and ends of my hair. Now you could leave the cream on your hair for as little or as long as you want. In that sense it works both as a conditioner and as a mask. Normally I'm a bit impatient so I don't like to leave it on for too long. I left it on for about two minutes and then rinsed it off. If you have the time and the patience you can leave it on for longer. It didn't take long for the cream to really work its magic. I ran my fingers through my hair and it was silky smooth and incredibly soft. My hair was detangled and unbelievably hydrated. I liked that even though it contained oils it didn't weigh my hair down nor did it leave a greasy residue. My hair is a short-medium length so I didn't have to use too much of the product. I also applied it to the middle and ends of my hair as that's where my hair gets very dry. You can apply it to your roots as well if you suffer from a lot of frizz and dryness at the scalp. After I came out of the shower brushing my hair was a breeze. It wasn't painful at all trying to detangle my hair or brushing out knots. Normally I would apply a hair serum or oil for extra hydration on the ends of my hair but after using the mask I felt like I didn't need to. Overall I found that it worked really well, it was a generous size which means it would last you a long time, it works well for all hair types and it will keep your hair hydrated and healthy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Feels Good But Leaves Build up Residue Really liked this product felt and looked nice. Unfortunate left buildup residue in my hair that my hairdresser had to spend two sessions removing. The had to use a deep cleaning clarifying shampoo for tow months after to fully remove it. As removing it quickly would of damaged my hair. My hairdresser said leaving it in my hair is damaging, so had no choice to remove. would not recommend.
