General Information

Bellamy’s Organic Baby Rice is a pure simple cereal of soft rice flakes with the added benefit of GOS to support the health of the tiny tummy. Mildly flavoured and smooth textured, our baby rice is an ideal way to start your baby on solid foods. It is quickly and easily mixed by simply adding water or baby’s usual milk. With added iron, no added salt, sugar, flavours or additives, you can be sure your baby is only getting the natural goodness of organic grains. To boost the flavour or variety of this meal, fruit purees make for an excellent addition.

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
Mixing Guide
1. Always wash your hands before preparing food for your baby.
2. For each tablespoon of cereal, add 2 tablespoons of cooled, boiled water, breast milk, or formula. Breast milk contains enzymes that make the cereal 'watery'. This is perfectly safe to use.
3. Mix to a smooth consistency. Mash out any small lumps with the back of a spoon.
4. Gradually increase amount given and thickness of the cereal over time, depending on your baby's appetite.
Always check the temperature is safe before serving.

I started of with mixing with a small amount of breast milk.. my bub didnt really like to eat it that way (probably more so because she was still getting used to food) so we tried again a week later mixed in with a bit of pureed veggies. I think its best mixed with other food as it is pretty bland on its on. It comes in a huge bag but only lasts 28 days from opening and with only using a small amount each serving I ended having to throw half the bag away when It came to the used by date. I still think its a good option to add to pureed food to add abit more to fill baby up.

He didn't love it but he was just getting used to having food put in his mouth. I feel it's a good starter food and as we introduce other foods will add some flavour later on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better flavour than others The Bellamy's rice cereal had a better flavour than other rice cereals on the market as it has added Rosemary extract. It's quick and easy to prepare, and helped thicken up other purees as we moved onto new flavours. The added iron did block my daughter up a little bit so we didn't use rice cereal for long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite as good as Others I got this as an option for my son for breakfast when we first started him on solids. I like that the Bellamy's brand is organic and this cereal contains no nasties which is good for little bellies. My son didn't take to it no matter how much we tried, he seems to prefer the Rafferty's cereals and to be honest so do I. With saying that it is a really good product and definitely one of the better ones on the market. We will continue to try to see if bub will eventually take to it.

It is gentle on the tummy and has a very bland taste. You have to make the mixture to your baby's liking so I make it a little thicker than outlined in the instructions on the back. I have mixed it with mashed banana and my son loves it

He has been slightly spewy since going onto this which could be a coincidence. Will persevere with this brand. Like that is is Australian made and not full of many nasties.

I'm an adult though so I'm judging this based on my twins really not enjoying it. I have a bag left so I'm going to use it to likely bulk up thier other purees unless someone has another suggestion.

My son wasn't very interested in the rice, although did seem to eat it more when it was mixed with apple or a sweet puree. I didn't persist very long and moved onto following BLW loosely.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful I find this baby rice cereal useful as a thickener when I've made something too runny, or to bulk something up a little. I found that on its own bubs wasn't very interested and we quickly moved onto other solid foods. Don't use it so much as an actual cereal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from baby didn't love it i love the bellamys range of baby food however, my 5 month old didn't really like the taste or texture of this organic baby rice as much as she likes some other products. i have now tried it a few times with her and always end up feeding her something else as she just won't eat it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not "proper" iron I would not recommend feeding bub solids before six months as their digestive system is not ready and these iron fortified cereals are not actually good for little tummies. I found out after I gave bub a few bowls for breakfast- i added coconut shavings for flavour but she did not love it.

I liked the consistency of the cereal and the baby enjoyed it too when mixed with fruit and veggie purees. But it made him constipated and then I had to switch to another cereal option due to this reason.

It is very plain and boring even as baby's first food. We threw it away both times. We even tried to add it to my older daughter's much loved milk bottle to bulk it up for breakfast but she wouldn't drink it...

Although it was easy to prepare and did go into a nice texture / consistency, my son did not really seem to enjoy the flavour.

I ended up giving it away to a friend and her little girl absolutely loved it! Seems to work for a lot of other bubs, mine just didn't love it.

It didnt matter if I mixed it with water, formula or breastmilk, it was completely refused each time. After trying it myself, it is extremely bland tasting so I guess it just isnt for everyone. Wont be buying again.

He would not swallow this regardless of how we made it up and white any kind of liquid despite his liking other Bellamy's organics products

After such success with their 4 month plus food pouches this seemed like a wonderful idea to introduce a new but bland flavour but our baby literally gagged on the taste of this, we tried mixing with both water and formula to try and make it more palatable but it inevitably when in the bin.
