General Information

Crush brassy tones for cooler, brighter blonde in 1 use. With crushed violet and blue pigments, this rich formula instantly transforms even the most stubborn brassy yellow and orange tones into cooler, brighter blonde.

Warnings

Avoid contact with fabrics and household surfaces to prevent staining. If contact occurs, clean immediately. Use towel to protect clothing and fabrics from wet hair. For external use only. Do not apply to a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if rash or irritation occurs. Avoid eye contact. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children.

To cancel stubborn brassy orange tones

Ingredients

Directions

Gently massage into wet hair, lather & rinse well. For more intense results, and to fight stubborn brassiness, leave shampoo on hair 2-3 mins. Use daily until desired colour result is achieved. To maintain those results, alternate with your regular shampoo as needed. For best results, follow with Violet Crush Conditioner. Rinse hands immediately after applying shampoo to hair.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from John Frieda products have always worked well for my dry blonde hair and this purple shampoo was no exception.  I found it made my hair softer and really got rid of the yellow brassiness I get after colouring my hair.  I would recommend using it no more than twice a week as it is quite strong and did leave my hands and nails a slight purple tint.  I will definitely buy it to replace my other purple shampoo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm currently using a lightening product which has lifted my hair a few shades but leaves it with a yellow undertone. The Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo has helped to tone down most of the yellow. On first use I didn't notice any difference, second time round I used a lot more product and left it in for a bit longer and it seemed to work better. The shampoo is a really rich purple that actually stained my fingernails for a day or two, but it smells really nice and leaves the hair smelling nice and feeling fresh. I haven't noticed any drying out of my hair, however, I have been following with a damage control conditioner. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to tone their coloured blonde hair as it works well and is pretty cost effective.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again! I have thin blonde, oily-prone, dandruff-prone hair with highlights. This is the third brand of purple shampoo that I have tried and this one has been my favourite so far. I felt like the other two brands made my hair less brassy but didn't actually wash my hair, often leaving a waxy residue. With those shampoos I would have to do a first wash with Head and Shoulders shampoo to clean my hair and then do a second wash with the purple shampoo. With this shampoo I could do JUST ONE wash with the purple shampoo and it both cleaned my hair and helped to reduce brassiness. WIN WIN! (I don't like keeping multiple bottles in my shower). This is quite impressive as I wash my hair only twice a week, so there is usually a few days worth of hair spray and dry shampoo build up in my hair, plus I play ice hockey, so I also have gross helmet hair to deal with. This shampoo also had a nice smell that wasn't too overpowering. I have tried this shampoo 3-4 times so I couldn't say if it has extended my hair colour salon visits just yet. Last time I coloured my hair was 2 months ago. I recommend this product.

My whole head isn't cool-toned blond, only my highlights but I have defiantly noticed the difference. The highlighted section appears to be brighter. I have already recommended it to someone to try.

It leaves it feeling soft and amazing and not dry which is a good thing for blonde hair. The smell is nice and i don't need to use heaps of it. My colour looks refreshed each time I used it.

Muvo is a hairdresser branded product. \nI found this was very similar in appearance to the Muvo and did an alright job at toning my hair. I found my hair was oily the following day though. \nI used my normal Olaplex conditioner and aftercare products like usual so my hair didn’t feel overly dry as other reviewers stated. \nI also didn’t find that it left a purple tinge in my hands which is a great thing!\n

I have hair/scalp on the slightly drier side and I found that this product did dry it out a little but not too much, and the product itself smells great! I also found that the shampoo stained my hands/nails slightly but I could get rid of most of that.\nI would definitely recommend this product, it does what it says it will do and is a lot cheaper than some of the alternatives. \n

I do however suggest using a moisturizing conditioner because like most purple shampoos is can be quite drying. Will definitely be using as a cheaper alternative to my salon brand shampoo

I would recommend using a good conditioner as it does make your hair a little dry. Only downside is that it is not sulphate free.

Not only did this shampoo not dry out my hair but i feel like it actually has quite hydrating properties. It smells amazing and left my hair a really lovely white blonde with no tinge of purple at all. Highly recommend this shampoo for those looking for a salon quality shampoo at a drugstore price!

It’s actually a great product for blondes and it’s super foamy which I love. The smell is refreshing but the purple can stain your fingers and nails so be careful. I would reccomend following with a leave in conditioner treatment to help hydrate the hair - particularly through the ends - as I found this did dry out my hair a little. A great price point and a comparable product with salon brands. Will definitely buy again.

I have oily and fine hair and found this product was perfect for my hair type as it didn’t leave it heavy oily or limp. It revamped my blonde foils and left it feeling refreshed. I also love that it is gentle enough to use every couple of days to eliminate the brassy tones unlike other purple hair products I’ve used in the past. Great product for an affordable price. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Having fine, platinum hair purple shampoos usually take quite quickly to my hair.   I found this product didn't, which was nice.  The shampoo took away any brassiness and left my colour fresh. \n\nI have used a competitor brand which is similar and feel this is a better choice if you're after something you can use several times a week and not be purple/ silver.  However, if that's what you're after this product might not be the right one for you.  \n\nOne negative I found is my hair is quite dry after using this product.  I don't normally use a heavy conditioner in my hair as I find it weighs down my hair, I have had to use conditioner with this product. \n

For the price, this purple shampoo is a great buy. After using this product, my hair looks considerably less brassy, but I did find that my hair felt a little drier than usual. As it is so intense, sticking to the recommended leave-in time is super important, unless you want purple-tinted locks. I would recommend this shampoo for any blondes wanting to tone their colour, but only with once a week use, at the most.

The only downside is that I have drier hair and the shampoo did dry my hair a little bit. I definitely recommend this product if you have oilyer dyed blonde hair types!

I wasn't sure Id even like to try this as I really didn't want that silver/purple look but I have been pleasantly surprised. It look a lot of brass out of my hair, with feeling like it had been died another colour.\nIt also doesn't feel like its drying my hair out as previous blonde shampoos have done.\n\nI would say the only negative is, if your are after that silver/purple look it really doesn't seem strong even to give you that.\n

Product is easy to standup in shower and flip top lid makes it easy to use and get the right amount for use. Easy to lather in hair and I felt it does make my hair clean. Is a little bit messy to use from time to time, stands hands and the shower. Product does tone the hair but not a huge great deal. Gets rid of some of the brassy look but do feel that it doesn't last past one wash. Also does make the hair very dry and harsh so can't use it every wash.

The positives are the packaging and price point. It's always interesting to try out new purple shampoos to see how they compare! Although I wouldn't buy this myself, it's a great middle range product that would do the job on thicker blonder hair.

I think it dried out my hair more which as I blonde I obviously don’t like and my hair had more yellow tones than usual. Overall it was okay and good for a shampoo available in a shop vs salon. It smelt alike many purple shampoos and packaging easy to use.

For the price and how well it works I would recommend this over and over again.  The only downside was it didn’t have a nice smell and that’s a big thing for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I am a bottle (well salon) blonde and I live for good toning shampoo AND conditioner. I tried this shampoo on its own and found that it was not too bad for the price - but if you are after a toning shampoo that is going to march your brassiness out the door, there are some others out there that deliver a better result. First things the scent was not unpleasant which some hard core toners can be and it didn’t stain my fingers or nails. That made me wonder whether it would really grab the yellow tones. I left it on as directed and rinsed. I tried a few different conditioners with it (not a one from the same brand). The best results were where I used my normal toning conditioner. Overall I didn’t find that it was as good as my tried and tested toning shampoo but it was probably gentle enough to use every day and that it would keep the super blonde bits a bit fresh but it wouldn’t banish brassy.

This needs to be left in for a longer time for a more silvery blonde.

Did not get an amazing result after the first wash but, it does seem to work better the more times I used it. Smells nice and is not as drying as some previous toners. I will continue to use this for sure. Still looking for a toner that doesn’t make me lose brightness in my hair while toning!
