General Information

Crush brassy tones for cooler, brighter blonde in 1 use. With crushed violet and blue pigments, this rich formula instantly transforms even the most stubborn brassy yellow and orange tones into cooler, brighter blonde.

Warnings

Avoid contact with fabrics and household surfaces to prevent staining. If contact occurs, clean immediately. Use towel to protect clothing and fabrics from wet hair. For external use only. Do not apply to a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if rash or irritation occurs. Avoid eye contact. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children.

Common Uses

To cancel stubborn brassy orange tones

Ingredients

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, SodiumLauryl Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Chloride,Cocamide MEA, Fragrance, Lactic Acid, DimethylIsosorbide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Malic Acid,Cetyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, GuarHydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide,Disodium EDTA, Glycine, Benzophenone-4, EthylhexylMethoxycinnamate, Sodium Xylenesulfonate,Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone,Blue 1, Ext. Violet 2.

Directions

Gently massage into wet hair, lather & rinse well. For more intense results, and to fight stubborn brassiness, leave shampoo on hair 2-3 mins. Use daily until desired colour result is achieved. To maintain those results, alternate with your regular shampoo as needed. For best results, follow with Violet Crush Conditioner. Rinse hands immediately after applying shampoo to hair.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I think this is an okay purple shampoo. It makes my hair feel a bit dry which is the same as others I've tried. I feel as if it's not as intense so you don't end up with purple streaks which is nice. Definitely a shampoo you could use regularly to tone your hair but I don't think it is anything special. It does what it says it does and it is relatively cheap compared to others in the market. I think it's a good starting point if you're wanting to get rid of brassiness and a good conditioner can combat the dryness.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like the shampoo, it’s leaves my hair feeling really clean but I don’t know how much it ‘crushes yellow tones’. It does take away some of the grassiness but leaves your hair looking a bit dull. I’m not a massive fan of the smell either, it’s quite strong and the generic shampoo scent lingers on my hair after conditioning and drying.

The Violet Crush by John Frieda was easy to use, I always find hair products in tubes the easiest to use and get out the last little bits at the end!\n\nIt lathered up a lot, and the smell was ok - not my favourite, but not unpleasant. The shampoo washed out well and worked to keep the brassiness at bay in my hair.\n\nThe positives for me are that this is an easy to find shampoo that does the job. The negatives are that it contains SLS (which I tend to avoid as it makes my scalp dry) and isn't particularly hydrating for my hair. This meant that my hair was a bit knotty after washing.\n\nI wouldn't use this everyday, but as a back up it works well.\n

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really took out the brassy tones and made the blonde tones much cleaner, however, my hair felt very dry, soft and “fluffy” afterwards even after putting serums in. I usually have straight hair but this shampoo just made it really frizzy and difficult to control. \nWould not use this as a regular shampoo, maybe just every now and then to get rid of the brassy tones. \n

I did find it quite drying on my hair it didn’t feel very soft after using this product compared to other blonde shampoos I have used in the past the past. Would not purchase in the future as I feel there are better shampoos out there.

I used it twice a week when washing my hair, it left my blonde hair looking like I had just had it redone at the hair dressers. I had people at work asking me if I had had my hair redone and I just told them o had washed it with this product. The smell wasn’t the nicest but that was easy to get over once you saw the colour it left your hair. I have repurchased a bottle of this to use along side my go to blonde shampoo and conditioner to give my hair that fresh colour feel

I didn't notice much difference after the first wash but the next few times it definitely toned down the brassiness of my hair and a couple of friends asked had I just had my hair done.\n\nI did find that my hair felt a little drier after using this a few times so I probably wouldn't use it as regularly as I have been. I also had to make sure I cleaned my shower well after each use as the deep purple colour did seem hard to clean off my white tiles.\n\nAll in all for this price point it's a great product.\n

I didn't notice any perceptible difference in the colour of my hair, even after several weeks of use - perhaps it would be more effective on bleached hair rather than natural blonde? As a shampoo it works fine, but it's nothing special without the toning abilities.

I have naturally and chemically highlighted blond hair and  I found it did leave my hair feeling soft but it had not  toned the brassy colour out. If I am using a blond toning shampoo I want it to remove those brassy tones, It just didn't do it for me unfortunately. There are other products out there which work way better than this one.

However, I found this product really dried my hair out and made it very knotty. The product had a really nice smell and did wash the yellow tinge out which i liked.  However I do recommend trying this product as it might work better for other hair types :)

I have tried other violet shampoos for blonde hair, with little success...I was hoping this one would be different... But, I was wrong... There is always a huge hype about how it will take out brassy tones and give blonde hair a real shine... Maybe because I'm a natural blonde it doesn't work... I'm not too sure??? But it never makes a difference to my hair... It still looks the same as it always does...\n
