Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smells delicious The Garnier Fructis Hydrating Aloe Vera Hair Food can be used in three different ways: -A conditioner -A mask -A leave in product I trialled it as a leave in product over night and combed it through my hair from roots to ends focusing more on the ends for greater hydration. The product sizing is extremely generous especially since a little bit of product goes a long way. I only needed about a 10 cent piece amount of product for all of my long hair. I love that the product is vegan. Free from parabens and silicones. It also doesn't have any artificial colourants. I do wish the formula was toxin free and that any fragrances were naturally sourced and noted in the ingredients list. The smell of this product is amazing and makes me feel like I am in a spa when I use it. For future uses, I will use it as a conditioner to hydrate my colour treated hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as I thought I have tried Fructis Papaya Hair food before, hence, I expect that this will be as good or maybe better than the Papaya one. Unfortunately, it is not. It does not have a natural smell but strong perfume smell like some other cheap hair products. With the name of the product "Aloe Vera", I expect the Hair Food will be more like a gel texture and hydrating the hair. But it is not. It looks like a normal any other hair conditioner. But it does slightly hydrates my hair after I tried it as a mask. I applied quite an amount of it to my hair and left it for a few minutes before rinsing it. It does smoothen my hair slightly, but not making my hair smooth or soft. I will not recommend this product to those who have a dry hair like me. It is more suitable for those who have a normal undamaged hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Instant hair and skin food ! Thank You BH for the monthly trial and is the first time use of this product. This is packaged in a large plastic tub that is very nicely labelled and presented which I was impressed with . The ingredients list was so amazing and naturally scented which I thought it was too good to be a hair food that I trialled it on my face like a mask after cleansing and my skin was so nice and smooth ! Generally even though I have straight hair my ends are the ones that always need attention so as usual washed my hair then scooped some in my hands and used it like a conditioner which made my hair smooth but not as nourished as a normal hair conditioner would. Hence I think it would be better if it was packaged in a bottle as felt a bit messy scooping with my hands and not able to judge the amount I wanted to use like a pump bottle would. I think the product is great for hair that is not too dry as don't feel it is sufficient if your hair was damaged which hair oil might be more suitable. Having said this it is so natural and no nasties that is is really worth a try for extra hair nourishment.

The other products are probably fine just not aloe Vera. Also when I wrote this they wouldn’t allow my name (real name) to be 3 letters.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Multi purpose! So this is a novel concept... A product that can allegedly be used in three ways: a conditioner, a mask and a leave in treatment! That's interesting. The instructions are a bit strange though... It says as a conditioner apply to wet hair after shampoo and rinse. But as a mask is says to apply after shampoo AND conditioner and leave in for... ONE minute! Ah... Most masks are like twenty minutes or overnight etc... Then as a leave in apply to either wet or dry hair and leave in. I only trialled it as a leave in as I did not have much time with the product. Its name is "aloe vera hair food" but aloe is the seventh ingredient on the list so there's not much in there. The smell is SO strong. It actually felt a little headache inducing to me so I had to rinse it out as I was going to work and was nervous I would end up with a headache. It has a good thick creamy texture though so for less sensitive people I think it may work as a conditioner.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not hydrating The name of this product was appealing to me as “food” makes me think it is nourishing for my hair. I liked the look of the packaging with the mint green but didn’t find the tub itself very practical. When trying to use this in the shower it was hard to replace the lid with the product on my fingers, and while trying to stop any water getting into the container. I like the idea that the product can be used in three ways. At this point I’ve only used it in one way which was as a mask and to be honest this is probably the only way I will use it but it’s great to have the options and it makes it a more versatile product. I found the consistency of the product was a little too thin which made it hard to scoop out of the tub and it was hard to tell if there was enough on my hair so I probably then applied too much. I liked the fruity scent of the mask but didn’t find this lasted after rinsing it off my hair. My hair is long, very fine and I suffer from dry split ends no matter what I do so I was hoping this mask would help moisturise the ends. After using it as a mask on the lengths, my hair felt soft but it was not better than when I use just my normal conditioner and no mask. My hair did not look hydrated as the package claims although I agree it did not weigh it down. Unfortunately this product was not nourishing enough for my hair and I wouldn’t recommend it for dry hair that actually needs a hydrating product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's ok The Garnier Fructis Hydrating Aloe Vera Hair Food comes in a large screw top tub holding 390ml of product. The packaging largely states that the formulation is 98% natural in origin and I love the way the ingredients panel is set out on the back. Each ingredient lists its source so it takes some of the guesswork out of understanding what the ingredients are and where they come from eg. botanical origin. The product is vegan and formulated free of parabens, silicones and artificial colourants. I like my natural beauty products to smell like their ingredients, it makes then feel for authentic. The Hydrating Aloe Vera Hair Food doesn't smell at all like aloe vera, it has that fresh, fruity fragrance synonymous with the Garnier Fructis range of shampoos and conditioners. The last two ingredients on the tub are fragrance and perfume. The Hair Food range can be used three ways. You can use this product as a regular conditioner, you can leave it on for as a mask before rinsing, or you can apply to the lengths as a leave in treatment after rinsing out conditioner. The directions say to leave the mask on for 1 minute prior to rinsing, I found this interesting because I would leave any conditioner on my hair for a minute before rinsing. When I used this product on my hair I used it as a mask and left it on for 10 minutes before rinsing. It's not as thick as I would expect a hair mask to be, the consistency was not unlike a regular conditioner. I didn't feel the mask performed better than my regular conditioner. I have blond, colour treated hair that is susceptible to damage if I use heat styling tools. I haven't been styling my hair for months so my hair is in better than normal condition and I felt this product still did not meet my hydration needs. This product isn't suitable for my hair but I like using it on my sons curly hair as it's in good health and it doesn't weigh down his curls.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not suited to my hair Thank you to Beautyheaven for the chance to trial Garnier Fructis Hydrating Aloe Vera Hair Food. I've seen this around the shops but have never tried it. It's good to see Garnier go almost natural....it's better than nothing. I was excited to try this hair mask after reading that the product contained no parabens, silicones, vegetable oils, and that it contained 98% natural ingredients and was also vegan friendly. I have only used the product in my hair in two of the ways out of the three, that Garnier say we can use it. They say it can be used as 1) conditioner 2) leave in 3) hair mask .......I used this product as a leave in and as the hair mask. First the hair mask......I followed the directions and applied to hair after shampoo and conditioner, and left in for 1 minute, followed by a complete rinse.....my hair initially felt soft and silky when I first applied it but during the rinse out process I could feel that silkiness slipping away and I was starting to feel sticky and a little knotty. So I didn't like the hair mask at all. It caused my hair to frizz more I think. The second way was the leave in conditioner.....so after shampooing and conditioning, I applied a little to my hair, to the ends, followed by some styling gel about 15 minutes after. Again, I found my hair dried ultra-quick and dried into a massive frizz ball. Now I do have really dry hair, which does have a natural frizz anyway.....so maybe this product may be suited more to those who have oily hair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Better as a conditioner than leave-in treatment I received a large 390ml tub of the Garnier Hydrating Aloe Vera Hair Food as part of the Natural Beauty Month trial team. The product is targeted for normal to dry hair and is 98% natural origin. It also contains no parabens or silicones. The Hair Food can be used in three ways: (1) as a conditioner after shampooing; (2) as a hair mask for 1 min after shampoo and conditioner; or (3) as a leave-in treatment. I have used the product 3 to 4 times in one week and tried it all three ways. The leave-in treatment was the worst. It left my hair dry, crunchy and frizzy. This could be because I normally use a hair oil and the Hair Food alone did not provide adequate nourishment. It was fine used as a conditioner however didn't feel like it particularly added any additional hydration to my dry hair. As a mask, it definitely did not compare to other hair masks I have used. If I am going to use this as a conditioner, I am tempted to dispense the product into a bottle with a pump as it's not easy to handle such a big tub with wet hands in a shower. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the Hair Food, perhaps I will have better results using in summer when my hair is less dry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hydrating Hair Treatment I received this product part of the Beauty Heaven Natural Beauty Month and would recommend it to others. When I first received this product I was excited to trial it as it is advertised to be used as a mask, intense conditioner or leave-in treatment. I found this product to be very effective at leaving my hair feel soft and silky after the first first use, and found which ever way I used it I had these results. I also really liked the scent of this product and found it didn't leave a heavy residue or anything unpleasant. Although the packaging is large and great value, I did find it was a bit hard to store it as my bathroom is quite small. I really like how this product is from 98 per cent natural origin and enriched with aloe vera and no nasties; no parabens, silicones and artificial colourants. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Natural ingredients & vegan [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the branding on this product, i was drawn to it because of the vegan element and 98% been natural products which i think is important for hair products. Its a big pot and you get a lot in it so it will go a long way. Also like the versatile use being leave in, use as conditioner or as a mask. I must admit for results i didnt find it really hydrated my hair anymore than my conditioner. usually when i use a hair mask it feels a lot smoother and stronger in condition but this didnt seem to have that result.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Trial Team Review I was looking so forward to trying the Garnier Fructis Hydrating Aloe Vera Hair Food as I use bleach on my hair to achieve my purple colour. I liked that the product could be used 3 ways - a conditioner (which I mostly used it as), a mask and a leave in treatment. It comes in a generous 390ml tub and has a nice fresh but subtle scent. I really wanted to love this product, it did help my ends feel softer and more hydrated but unfortunately made my scalp quite dry, which is something I usually don’t have an issue with. I think if I were to continue to use this product, I would focus on using it purely for hydrating my ends. I did also use it on my daughter’s hair though and it did leave her hair feeling lovely, maybe it just wasn’t suited to my scalp.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't like that much. I loved the large container it came in. The colours of the brand made it look appealing and something I would notice in the shops and want to buy. I didn't quite like the smell of it as it didn't have a nice scent to it. It says that you can use it 3 different ways. 1. conditioner 2. wash out mask treatment 3. leave-in treatment. I think the best result for me was the washout treatment. Leaving it in the for a long period of time then rinsing it out made my hair feel really soft. When using it as a leave-in treatment on dry or wet hair or conditioner I found it made my hair feel quite sticky. When straightening my hair after using this product I also found that it wasn't as soft or silky smooth as other hair products I have used in the past.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pain I have used many of the Hair Foods that Garnier have and have never had an issue. I choose depending on if I have coloured my hair or the time of year. I used the hydrating Aloe Vera and ended up with an allergic reaction that covered anywhere my hair touched, my head felt on fire. I followed directions on the packaging. I will now avoid any aloe Vera product that Garnier makes as I’m unsure if I’ll react and have a reaction. I have never reacted to any Aloe Vera products before.
